I really want him to do well. He has games where he looks genuinely decent but he's had too many where he looks like we've asked one of us to run round after 8 pints.

A lot of defenders at the top teams have looked good in teams that keep the ball most the time because they aren't being asked to defend much of the game. Today is a game like that for Thomas.

Man of the match for me.

Theres a certain Stigma attached to him now, so it will be impossible for him to impress or change the opinion of some....

But if he plays like he has done the last 2 games, he'd be my first choice CB by a country mile.

Pair him with the new lad. Souttar needs to go.

Luke Thomas doesn’t make a disastrous pass, foul or isn’t woefully out of position for one game and people think he’s the new Matt Elliott 😂

any 50/50 he’s constantly fouling and won’t have an easier game all season

2 games. Played well at Ipswich too.

He was alright today, I still think there's an awkwardness to him but his weaknesses oddly feel less exposed at centre-half than full-back. He's horrible at one-on-one defending, isn't athletic enough to effectively cover the ground a modern day full-back needs to and can't be trusted with the ball in tight spaces. He's got more of the pitch to use at centre-half and it seems to make him less panicked, the touchline isn't making him shit himself like it normally does.

I’m one who had defended Thomas longer than pretty much anyone, on the basis of his shit development, and defended players in general much long such as Daka. My distain is reserved player wise, for those with an attitude like Winks, Faes etc.

But people are getting ahead of themselves here. It was a promoted side who hardly ventured out of their own half and the defence wasn’t exactly tested.

Exactly this.

Thomas has shown that he should be our 5th choice CB once the window has closed, with him being second fiddle to McFarlane.

I wish he would stop trying to play rugby though the amount of times he grabbed the opposition today worried me.

If that’s him trying to play rugby I’d love to see him spend a training session with the Tigers, or even Syston under 14s for that matter!

Here's a fun game - who's said he's the new Matt Elliott?

Did anyone hear him on RL sport?

takking about his centre back stint he said it’s been good because “I’m good on the ball”

my oh my..

also seems very confident of a spot in Russels team

He's literally our worst player on the ball, its between him and Skipp.

Might start and feature at CB again on Sat but give it a couple of weeks and there’s no reason to carry on playing him.

Macfarlane has massively outshined him at LB.
