Not the worst thing that could have happened.

If England beat the US they're through (barring the Saffers utterly bottling it against the Windies) and it doesn't matter if we top the group or not. If they lose, well, they deserve to go out.

But we could lose and then we'll never hear the end of it.

Big win for the West Indies against America boosts their run rate .

I guess we want SA to beat them so long as we win against USA?

As it happens, it would be OK the other way round now - the Saffers are closer to England in terms of NRR so pretty much any win for England and any loss for SA will mean all three teams are on 4 points but England will have a better rate than the Saffers do. If there's no result, a win will do too.

In short, there's only a very, very specific result range where England beat the US and still don't go through (an incredibly narrow win against the US and an incredibly narrow win for Windies against SA).

Another convincing win for India.

Middle order performing well once more.

Semi will be much tougher. Need to be in the right mental zone for that. Need to lose this choker tag.

If we don't win it, l really hope West Indies do, we need a strong Windies across all formats though. It's a great place to tour too & we don't play enough Test cricket there.

Unfortunately l think Australia will be victorious.

Lifelong dream to watch cricket in the Indies! Can imagine it'll be such a chilled event with rum or beer (or both) on tap pretty much.

Exactly, I've been lucky enough to watch England in Barbados twice, most recently in a Test match in 2022. Great place to visit, so chilled out & lovely locals.

Afghanistan beat Aus overnight :o

If we beat Aus tomorrow, and Afghanistan beat Bangladesh, Australia are out and Afghanistan are through. That'd be massive.

Fantastic result for Afghanistan.

Started very well with the bat and kept getting wickets at key moments.

Some excellent catching .

Played the conditions better than Australia.

Yes saw them earlier .

Sometimes they replay the whole game about 10.

What this also means is that India can't take their foot off the pedal totally because there's still a mathematical chance of them being eliminated.

Would take a nasty loss to Aus (40+ runs) and a crushing victory for Afghanistan against Bangladesh (60+ runs), but it is a possibility, so they'll need to keep at least somewhat switched on.

If I was the USA team and a 'host' of the competition I'd be a bit annoyed having to play away in Barbados.

Surely if they want to grow the game in the US they should be playing England in Dallas or NYC for example

Wrapping things up with aplomb here.

Just for the record, England will have to make this target with more than 10-13 balls remaining (depending on what the target is exactly) to ensure they're through. Really shouldn't mess that up from here.
