Could England have forced the follow on?

Not quite, 200 is the lead required for that.

I reckon Root would have decided to have another bat, pile on some runs quickly and bowl last anyway.

Thanks for that, however, unfortunate.

What a ground this is

Loving the outground revival of the last few years.

Doubt we'd get Chesterfield, but would love to see Leicestershire get Derbyshire at Repton, Gloucestershire at Cheltenham or Warwickshire at Rugby next year.

It’s worth it…. Scarborough is very special…. Tucked away behind some B&B’s….  There was actually a pretty decent crowd too…. One or two Leicestershire fans!  The smaller grounds are much more intimate…. Only a short amount of play yesterday and they could have easily played an extra couple of hours earlier in the day which was frustrating…. If you ever get the chance, go!

A much nicer pic

Having Stokes as captain and McCullum as coach was bad for Brook. He's a very talented batsman - and with his head in the right place he'll be fantastic for England.

That's probably a very fair point.

Time will tell l guess. l do think Brook still needs to reign his Test batting in a touch. Maybe Fleming is the man.

He should keep the showboating for the white ball game.

No doubt he is amazingly talented.

Nice for the Day 3 crowd to get some cricket but not enough to mean they don't get a refund apparently which is good in a way!

And the ECB are probably glad there is a fourth day.

Think Alistair Cook made a fair point on TMS the other day - Baz and Stokes were ideal for Brook when he first came into the team, but managed him poorly once he’d established himself. He’s still got his peak years ahead of him so hopefully with the right balance in the team around him he can play with the freedom he needs while not feeling like he always has to be ultra aggressive.

Ollie Robinson could well be the new Chris Woakes - lethally essential in home conditions despite not being overly fast. Could well be useful in SA and Oz, too.

Trouble is people will buy the tickets so grounds are going to be sold out meaning the ECB will think all is ok .

Agreed but exploiting those that struggle to pay isn't justified, it just smacks of elitism

Not sure that rewarding KP's treachery by appointing him to a supervisory role sends out the right message, tbqh.

The Saffers down at the Cape over the winter will be a much sterner challenge than this, but in the meantime it's good to see the bowling attack so on form.
