Not seen much of him - does he look the real deal? Stats look good.

Yep. Saw his List A and Championship debuts last year and he looked like he'd been doing it for a decade.

Don't think he's yet been tested by someone having a proper go, which can destroy any young spinner, but you feel nothing would faze him. He'll play for England while he's still a teenager, I reckon.

Obviously would have been great to see him play, especially the last time for India in England but in terms of his actual performance do you think he'd of struggled?

Yeah I'm just being facetious because it's probably the last time I'd have seen him play lol

I think he'd have struggled. Possibly depending on conditions but who knows to be honest. He still has the ability to control an innings but the form over the past 12-18 months has seen him dip. I think it's no coincidence as well that it comes at a time where his wife had another baby too...

As for Sharma, he should have gone a while back so I'm glad that's opened up a space for another youngster to come through.

I suspect Gill will be the opener along with Jaiswal, perhaps. Not sure who might replace Kohli but it's a great opportunity for whoever comes in to be part of a squad that is bringing in a new era.

I'm no fan of Kohli but his impact on the game has been undeniable. One of the modern greats for sure and it's a shame he's retired before this tour.

Apparently Kohli has 271 million followers on Instagram. That's insane.

His impact towards test cricket and making sure that's the focus is what's admirable for me. I think it'll be missed not having someone like him around (and will probably be emphasised more when Root & Smith retire) but I hope it's not.

Ah must be nice having an abundance of lads capable of coming in with decent averages in first class cricket though

It does surprise me with England that there's a dearth of batsmen ready to take up the places.

But then I think it's their focus on white ball cricket coupled with the approach of 'Baz-ball'. It's not sustainable and doesn't lend itself to the beauty of the longer format.

There's a few, but they get overlooked, probably down to not having the right sort of vibe for Baz-ball. Although saying that James Hildreth never played test cricket prior to this era either.

As much as I like cricket it get quite frustrating the amount of draws. Was watching out for Warwickshire v Surrey over the weekend, Warwickshire managed put together 665 runs, huge score. Surrey responded with huge score also with 500 odd. Sadly after all that no winner.. one thing I like about One Day cricket is there mostly there's always a winner. Seems like in the county championship, teams don't play to win, they play to avoid defeat.

It's like a team coming up from the championship to premier league, who decide that'll play 10 defenders and aim to draw every game to stay up.

Keaton Jennings has resigned as Lancashire captain. All very well but if you look at their line-up it's not actually very good. They'd be in even bigger trouble if it weren't for Marcus Harris' 750 runs.

So much was made of Anderson coming back that it masked a lot of the issues that got them relegated.

Criminal really, considering their cash and the strength of club cricket in their catchment area.

It's a pretty decent team still, and should be doing a lot better

Foakes scored a career best batting with the tail to save the game for Surrey yesterday. Won't move the dial for England but it probably should do.

I'm not sure you can take much from a 2 innings game with a 500 and 600 scored. But I do like him in general.

I agree, but interesting that it's often cited as the reason he's not fancied. Suspect that's just an excuse.

Another decent score yesterday.
