Slightly off topic, but I had to visit a client in prison once to get him to sign some paperwork and made the mistake of looking up what he was in for before visiting. It transpires than him and his son had beat a man to death following an argument in a pub. He was perfectly reasonable and friendly, though it did make me laugh how he mentioned that 'you go down the pub one day for a couple of drinks and end up in prison'. Well, yes, apart from the huge part of the story that you missed out.

As for personal run ins, I've only had the usual stop and search when I was a teenager. One was a little worrying as me and two others had fake IDs on us that we'd purchased online for about £15 and, as many would do at the age of 16/17, assumed that they would find the fake IDs and be arrested.

Got stopped with 3 mates while at uni on the way back from a night out. Apparently we 'matched the description' of some people they wanted to talk to

Happened to me as well, way back in 2005. I was 21, was walking back from the stadium after a City game, as we were about to enter Charles Street, two police cars surrounded us. They searched me and told me to look straight at a CCTV camera to my left because I matched the description of someone who was suspected of committing armed robbery. Obviously I was innocent so I was let go and they drove off. Quite scary to be honest.

I was a milkman for a while back in the early 90s and used to walk to the depot which was at the back of the Blaby by Pass form my house on the Monsell. Anyway I always had a good sized bag with the books and a few bits in as they’d go missing if u left them in the Float. I’d get stopped regularly walking down Lutterworth Road near the old County Arms pub. I’d know it was coming when I seen a Cop Car and would be getting the milk round book out to show them I was a milkman walking work as soon as I seen them. Sometimes the car wouldn’t actually even have come to a complete stop before the Cops would realise and carry on. I never cared as I’d be disappointed if they didn’t stop a geezer dressed like I was with a big bag at 3-30 am in the morning. Eventually I finally met the total knob Cop. They’d all been fine till this one morning a cop with nothing better to do decided me showing him my milk round book and a milk bottle carrier wasn’t enough proof and he proceeded to want more info like my address and if I’d ever been in trouble before and then the greatest question ever,  can you tell me how much is in the bag of change I had with me.   Held me up for about ten mins before letting me go.

Got my reply to say what they've got on the Police National Computer about me.....

Only the 2 counts of Criminal Damage from 1988 (a single incident involving a shop window and a car wing mirror - and many pints).

Not surprising that the Breach of Peace from 1985 is expunged, as I remember being told at the time that would be removed from my record if I was a good boy.

Good news that the police caution for Common Assault is not on there, as that one sounds the worst, even if it was just a ridiculous fracas outside a Cornish phone box.

Still a decision to be taken eventually over whether to apply for a US visa or to bluff it out, but I reckon that one way or another, to quote The Dubliners: "Now I am bound for A-mer-i-kay!" :D

Got stopped by a couple of cops when walking home through Rusholme early one morning in the late 70s.

Noticing one of them had a bandage on his hand, I foolishly said; 'looks nasty mate - is that your reading finger?'

Anderton was chief pig in those days, and the Manchester force wasn't noted for its sense of humour.

Suffice to say I regretted that particular shaft of wit for several days after.

Was 14, set a girls hair partially on fire. Mate gave me a rigged lighter without me knowing. Was aiming for her hood but went all the way through.....what a stupid twat I was.

And got expelled for a month with police bought in. A month at home playing Call Of Duty.

SOMEHOW the girl fancied me and said if I wrote a letter of apology no charges would be pressed.

2 weeks later I was on a date with her sat in Argents Mead drinking cheap blue WKD. Meeting her parents properly for the first time was.....fun

:nigel:

What a state.

Weird question, but what school did you go to? A pretty much identical thing happened at my school when I was that age.

I forgot another one, you’ll wonder why when I explain 😂 I was once filming a YouTube video with a mate where I was running around Trafalgar Square in London in a pair of speedos carrying a plastic wrestling belt (pretending to be a wrestler basically) and they didn’t like us filming on the square so a copper came over and had a word with us 🤣 I was called “the Tom” which he told me meant in London language that I was a male prostitute - to which I promised him I wasn’t soliciting myself despite appearances - **** it I’ll put the video link in here despite the embarrassment nowadays (and the poor acting) 😂

I had a misses at the time so sadly not 😆  but totally agree she was lovely, if I was single I would have 100% especially as she wasn’t as horrified as 95% of the rest of the general public there 😂

I've only ever had one proper run-in but it's a particularly odd one. A couple of summers ago I was in Germany on holiday with my mates, we got drunk in a bar in Berlin watching England play Panama in the World Cup and decided to drive to Russia to try and watch an England game. We drove through Poland sorting out visas on the way only to notice just as we were to cross into Belarus that one of my mates had lost his passport (in Berlin it turned out but we didn't realise that until months later). Anyway he was a dual citizen so he got his other non EU passport posted to Poland and reapplied for the visa waiver for Belarus and Russia with his other nationality and all seemed fine. Anyway naively we drove to the Belarus border where we were confronted by Polish border guards doing exit checks. At this point it still hadn't clicked that we'd messed up some how. They took one look at my mates passport and put him in handcuffs and drove him away as they believed him to be an illegal immigrant. At this point I am scared but was more concerned for my mate than myself. However they then in very broken English explained to me that I was being detained for breaking a law to do with people smuggling (or something to that nature). Anyway long story short my mate spent 48 hours trying to get the British embassy to confirm he was British while locked up in a detention centre (unsuccessfully) before the polish authorities agreed to deport him to Belarus (they were happy to have him as he had the correct visa to visit). I was eventually let off after signing a piece of paper accepting responsibility for what I had done and promising not to do it again. It's safe to say I learnt a lesson that day about borders.

It used to be called John Cleveland College. Think it's called Hinckley Academy now
