Reading that article confirms my suspicion that the state of our pitch last season was a contributing factor to some of our injuries.

The club couldn't say that, if it is true.

It must have affected the play at home at the very least. such a pity looking back at how tight it was at the end, and how iffy we were at home.

Which one's in particular?

JJ landed awkwardly after jumping for a ball.

Ricardo was an impact injury, as was Johnny Evans' foot injury.

Not sure how Barnes sustained his injury.

Castagne and Praet were both hamstring injuries through over stretching.

I believe Soyuncu's injury was aggravated at an away game, but our pitch could have contributed to it.

Perhaps Maddison's hip problem was caused by our pitch, but I think it is more likely the way he plays, twisting and turning.

Morgan is just an old man and arthritis has caught up with him.

I'm not having a go, but I just think we had an unlucky season with injuries, more down to the situation with condensing two seasons without any real break, rather than the state of our pitch.

Fair points, it will be interesting to hear what they say about the new pitch in the media, but a simple unlucky year is a reasonable shout.

I do think dodgy pitches can increase the chance of injury, but I really don't know if ours was much worse than others.

Been following this out of interest, but when they say sterile, any idea what they mean? Didn’t they say the soil was dead and that’s why they need to replace the whole thing

I guess the sand base is going to be sterile.

Reading that it sounds like a science exam . I find it really interesting how much work goes in to the pitch .

It's really fascinating the amount of work and research that goes into producing a premier League pitch. It's one aspect that's really been exposed to fans with Twitter and Instagram.

Anyone know how the pitch fits in with our home pre season games time wise?

We don't have any home pre-season games.

Soon as the seed goes down. Assuming it's rye grass you'll see a full pitch in about 2 weeks or there abouts..

Especially with the sunbeds on them and constant watering they'll be doing.

That's fantastic and I'm astonished that it'll only take two weeks! Thanks.

Let's hope we get that extra CB in this year because with this slick pitch and last seasons shaky defence under pressure then the last thing we need is a fast pitch this season.

Ours was due to be done last summer but the events of covid and the short break between seasons meant we had to reschedule. It could easily have cost us.

I hope some of our bad luck around covid is being repaid in the rather stalled transfer market this summer.

I look forward to a top class surface next season.

Strikers running through the lines and dodgy back passes from midfield to defence... I'd rather have a glossy professionally controlled ice rink with a professionally controlled back 3/4 🤗

Starting to take shape. Love the final picture with the fox on the pitch.

Did someone buy a tin of green paint from homebase over the weekend and paint the damn thing?!? That's insane.
