....I  understood what he was saying...just that I am saying it is a freak situation!!!

I suspect you mean growing the grass longer to slow the pitch down.

Not sure how you got to me saying we need to relay the pitch now but that was not what I was saying.

Should we attempt to replicate the condition of the pitch we would have to cut up a training pitch to mimic the KP surface or failing that train on KP pitch itself.

I never suggested you'd said we need to relay the pitch now. "We have no opportunity to treat the pitch as we would have done in a regular off season," is what you said that led me to believe you thought someone else had said that.

I'm not sure exactly how they'd do it, but it doesn't seem that hard a thing to do to replicate a worn out pitch. Training at the KP is not a bad idea, either. I think these are good, practical ideas to make us better prepared for home games this season. It could make a big difference to half the games we have left in what could be a great season for us.

Training on the KP would certainly make sense given that we cannot do any more damage to it. Kasper can practice keeping the Ball on the pitch when he gets it.

I have laid a Pitch before including Drainage, I suspect they'll go down to the Drainage maybe even taking it out and starting all over again. It should be super when finished but ideally it needs a little time to settle. So we might end up requesting away games for the first few weeks of the new Season.

Like others I miss the lovely patterns we had on the pitch years ago.  I suspect it was banned to appease the big top 4 clubs because they couldn't keep up with us.

Yeah John explained it on Twitter as mentioned in the article, they “patch” it up every season but they will be going for a full rebuild

Amateur groundsman? Does that mean he cuts his lawn?

Kaspar needs longer than 6 weeks

Still miss those patterns we had during the 15/16 season - especially the evening games. Our pitch was stunning.

Me too. Wasn’t the original reason they banned them was because linesman used the lines to help with offside decisions???

If so, now we have var why can’t we bring the snazzy designs back?

...I believed it was because of the need for universal Premier League pitches, as ours did not conform with the various designs!!!

Wasn't really following the Premier League when Rodgers was at Celtic but one of my best memories of Leicester City(besides the Vardy volley:)) is the stunning beauty of the pitch and the designs/patterns on it.

For some reason visions of that pitch stick in my mind to this day. Didn't your groundsmen win some kind of award? Always feel like I'm missing something at the start of the match.

Yeah the grounds team have won quite a few awards, they do a real good job tbf especially considering the number of sites they now have to look after!

Some pictures of the designs here https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/05/11/leicester-city-groundsmen-cut-spectacular-club-badge-king-power/ shame the boring farts at the PL banned us doing anything but straight lines!

That’s a serious article! Ideal for insomniacs like me. Thanks. Seeing where we are at with sub-surface work, I hope there’s enough time for the actual grass playing surface to mature ahead of next season’s kick-off?

I had no real idea what a big job relaying a pitch to the highest standard is, before I read that. It is an amazing turnaround from the pitches we used to know, but it does seem to take a long time. I suppose this is why they had to cancel it last summer, because you need all the time you can get, before it gets used and abused.

The detail about Pep wanting 19mm made me laugh.

Reading that article confirms my suspicion that the state of our pitch last season was a contributing factor to some of our injuries.

Which one's in particular?

JJ landed awkwardly after jumping for a ball.

Ricardo was an impact injury, as was Johnny Evans' foot injury.

Not sure how Barnes sustained his injury.

Castagne and Praet were both hamstring injuries through over stretching.

I believe Soyuncu's injury was aggravated at an away game, but our pitch could have contributed to it.

Perhaps Maddison's hip problem was caused by our pitch, but I think it is more likely the way he plays, twisting and turning.

Morgan is just an old man and arthritis has caught up with him.

I'm not having a go, but I just think we had an unlucky season with injuries, more down to the situation with condensing two seasons without any real break, rather than the state of our pitch.
