Vardy agreed albeit he and Lineker are totally different types of players. Schmeichel not for me I'm afraid though. Miles behind Shilton and Banks. As much as I like and appreciate him, he's extremely flawed compared to those two who were world class, not just merely good club goalkeepers.

Yeah - Vardy for me. But Lineker was a superb player and had a great career

Walsh better than Soyuncu! Guy may be a club legend and was an immense 2nd tier level centre back in the early/mid 90s but its proper rose tinted specs to say hes definitively better than any of the other CBs listed. He was decent at prem level but not much more than that. Elliott was vastly superior alongside him in the late 90s.

Have to agree. Elliott was definitely the better defender. And Morgan, Huth, Evans and Soyunchu's peaks were/are all better than either Elliott's or Walsh's peaks as well.

 

But I guess it depends on the balance between longevity and having 1 or 2 incredible seasons really.

 

Is it better to be very good for 7 or 8 years or absolutely superb for 1 or 2 years? In terms of legacy and players fans remember, it tends to be the former. But if you're discussing our best ever XI then you probably need to consider more the latter.

 

Walsh is rightly remembered as a legend here for his longevity, but I'd probably consider 6 or 7 centre backs to be better than him in terms of their peak seasons for us compared to his peak.

I watched Walshy play, he was one of my heroes but I'm sorry in my opinion he's not comparable skill level to the current crop we have, and he wasn't even on a par with Elliot. He's a legend for being one of our best players over a long period of time, but that is offset by the fact that a the majority of that time was spent in the 2nd tier. Really comes down to whether you want to pick your eleven on what they contributed to the club or their relative skill levels...

Kasper better then Shilts? Are you havin* a laugh?  Shilton was one of the greatest goalkeepers that football has ever seen. There is not and never will be any comparison between them.

I would disagree Maddison is better then Parker, I have doubts Soyuncu is as good as Taggart. Is Evans as good as Elliot? 
 

not saying Poole and Muggleton were as good as Kasper, couple of advantages they did have, they could kick the ball in between the white line, essential when trying to counter attack, and they found city players more often then opposition players.

It's all subjective but I've gone on the Parker with us and not younger. 

 

Elliot and Taggart were loved because of their blood and guts performances but they were limited. Elliot the better of the pair but not as good as Evans.

I am not sure, I agree it’s subjective.

 

I don’t agree with people’s assessment that Vardy is as good as Lineker or Wortho. But am glad he is here and out main striker today

Very good for 7 or 8 years, easily. Longevity/consistency is what separates good players from decent players.

 

Decent players have a good season or two; good players have consistently good seasons. Soyunchu has had one good season for us and should not be compared to a player like Elliott who was consistently good for us and scored in massive games (most notably a League Cup final).
