Evans definitely our best player tonight and not just for the goal. Everyone else struggled really though Wes did give us some momentum before half time and I thought Perez actually added something up front. Tactically I think we could have been more offensive after the sending off, though Southampton just sat back understandably and offered little attacking wise. 5s mostly at best, Evans a 7.

A classic 6/10 for everyone, not sure anyone player really badly, but I didn’t feel anyone raised their game.

Our strength has been, when one of midfield, forwards goes quiet someone else has stepped up, no one did that today.

Maddison turd again. Been saying he’s all flash for ages but he bends one in the top corner and he should get in the England squad 😂. Doesn’t do the simple things well, and tonight, made all the wrong decisions.
I’d rather Perez start against Newcastle

That's very harsh. He was absolutely flying before his latest injury. It's a shame but he's pretty much made of glass and is only properly fit for around half of the games each season. He's clearly not fully fit at the moment but for me I'd start him every time over Perez, even if he was on one leg. I suspect Brendan takes the same view.

Controversial but brave.

He's the poor man's Beckham in so many ways. At least with Beckham if he wasn't dong the fancy stuff he did the simple stuff well. With Maddison it is feast or famine. You'll have a game dominating performance Week 1 and then weeks 2 - 3 are just godawful.

If we can get a decent sum for him then I wouldn't be against his departure this year. Not that he's bad - far from it - but because I think we could find a midfielder with a similar skillset that's applied consistently.

5s for most, 6s for Evans (motm) & Kasper for a couple of decent saves and almost saved the pen. 4s for Vardy, Maddison & Iheanacho, our so called front 3 were poor last night, Vardy looks a shadow of last seasons golden boot winner, Maddison swans around and achieves nothing, Iheanacho (goals/assists apart) has not looked great for a couple of games now, and has started to drop back away from where he is most dangerous in and around the box. Hope last night was a blip but we need at least 1 more win and maybe a draw or 2 to claim the 3rd spot, oh and win the FA Cup as well please...

Up the City... :scarf:

Hold on, where are you finding this player who is as good as Maddison at his best and applies it consistently? And where are we getting the £100 million plus to pay for him?

You could find a player as good as Maddison was last night up the park on Sunday, and sign him up for a tenner and a tin of biscuits.

The issue of consistency with Maddison is not one to be laughed off.  Especially when his howlers tend to come in our most important games.  I certainly wouldn't give him away, but I think you'd listen to what offers were out there.  No question when he's bothered he can be one of the most dangerous in the league at creating chances from nothing, which is a skill we sorely lack at the moment.  But I think it's absurd to suggest a replacement would cost 100 million.  You sure as hell couldn't get that for Maddison himself.

A player as good as James Maddison at his best who produces it consistently, would cost north of 100 million.

You’re right in we wouldn’t get that for Maddison, because of the lack of consistency, but who is this player who is as good as Maddison can be and does it week in week out?
Name me a single player, who would come to Leicester and cost less than £100 million and be as good as James Maddison can be and produce it every single game?

I don't think the argument is that you could find a player who does what peak Maddison does every week, at least not and afford them.  I think the argument was maybe you're better off with a guy who gives you 80% of that but does it pretty much every match.

Okay, but name that player, who is it who can do Maddison job better than him, who is both affordable and would come here?

That's why the scouts get paid.  Changing a player you know for a player you don't is always a gamble.  Nabil Fekir, maybe?  Odegaard, conceivably, though he'd cost a lot.  Mattias Svanberg could play in a #10 role - he has the creative flair.

He's very overrated. Mount, Foden and Grealish don't play like that.  Let alone several times a season. There's this hype around which seems to exempt him from criticism. Like he's some kind of creative genius seen once in a generation like Maradona or something. He's gone backwards under rodgers which is very unusual as he's a great coach. I'd definitely sell him. To be honest not only is perez ahead so is praet.  They aren't like for likes but I'd rather have them in as both are 6.5 to 7.5 game after game.

He is certainly no Mahrez nor KDB (very far from them in fact).  Mahrez costed us less than 1m while it costed Man City a lot less than 100m. I like Maddison now, but Perez has been playing better than him in last few games and talks of 100m or likening him to Mahrez (let alone Messi) is indeed way off the mark and over the top ...

I don’t think we lost because of Maddison though. We lost because we tried to “control” the game but against 10 men parking the bus and not intended on coming out, that wont cut it. We were too slow in building up and liked to pass back whenever we can and when we finally did pass into the box it was an aimless cross. I actually blame this more on Rodgers this game. We should have brought on Albrighton earlier and I would have also brought on Ricardo or even Under for this game. We just needed more endeavour on the sides and running to stretch the 10 men. Castagne was disappointing and Thomas (I really like the bloke) was clearly instructed to play safe and pass back whenever possible.
