We did - Bourne said we were going to recruit heavily for the youth teams. Signed 4 very highly rated youngsters.

Grist and young are going to be serious players.

I expected more throughout the U16, U16, U23's

I mean come on, if there's statements like we're going big on recruitment I'd expect more than 4 players, of which only 2 we've paid a fee for 😂😂😂

Seven players* signed (so far) between ages of 16 and 20. There was never any mention of how much money would be spent.

*Jahmari Lindsay, Chris Popov, Jack Lewis, Ben Grist, Brad Young, Lewis Brunt, Ronny Nelson.

Similar numbers last year then in the U18's and U23's. This summer we've paid money for Grist and Young and it seems Popov could have stayed at Man Utd but chose to stay with us. It's a mild change to previous years where we furtled about the released lists of players from slightly bigger clubs than us or the odd highly rated young player from non league and League Two.

It still is some way from what I would class as going for it though but hopefully it's the start.

I'm impressed with the make up of the U23 squad this season, there's a clear effort to strip out needless older players who are unlikely to make it and give some 16-19 year old players a game that have stepped up either from the U18's or in Alves case straight for the U16's.

This is what many of us on here have been championing and it's great to see, we've been the best club in the Midlands for several years and ought to believe that across all levels.

A similar amount, the difference this year is we've paid money for 2 players rather than pick up players that had been released by other clubs.

Theyre much higher profile players and there doesn't seem to be players like loft and mitch Clark who are just there to do a job in the 23s and sell on to league 2.

Yeah I assume eppiah is trying to find a new club as he's not featured at all. Reghba is a walking Red card.

No idea what is happening with both of them. Reghba played a bit of pre-season but wasn't in the match day squad for the first two matches of the season which is strange - maybe injured again? I swear he's spent half his time at Leicester either injured or suspended following red cards

Grist and Young came from Non-League/League Two which fits the similar model to before when we've signed the likes of Callum Hulme for 150k from Bury before they went bust.

You say there aren't players like Loft and Mitch Clark but we've added 2 players Villa have released (where Mitch Clark came from) which fits our previous recruitment model.

I'd expect more, but perhaps I'm being harsh and we've nabbed loads of promising U16 players. There's certainly been plenty of big talent that was available this summer from top academies whom they'd had enough of being there.
