Iversen and Shade on loan then. We should get another three I'd say.

Yeah Callum Wright would need another loan. It's a pity about Leshabela.

Tawanda should get a loan unless he's going to be introduced to the first team. And if we don't buy a winger or right sided attacker then it's certainly possible.

We are playing a lot of games. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench for some of the EL games.

Any U23 player aged 19 or older should be out on loan next season if they aren't going to be considered for the first team.

Shane Flynn

Vontae Daley-Campbell

Callum Wright

Kasey McAteer

Ali Regbha

Jake Wakeling

Leshabela

Mitch Clark

Wanya Marcal

Have any of those even played that much? Some players need longer in the u23s, KDH for example.

I don't think KDH being held back from a loan move until he was 21 and a half is a positive. Yes some players develop at different rates to others but it's not a positive development pathway.

Speak to any successful footballer who started in the lower leagues and they all talk glowing about how important it was for them to be getting first team football at such a young age.

I'm not sure those players will attract loans. I don't think they're being held back. I think they've not done enough to justify a move. I sincerely doubt the club is denying them a loan.

I generally agree, but if they are going to be sitting on a bench, or not even making the bench, I don't see how a loan is an improvement over playing for the U23s. I know the club is working on its loan infrastructure, but there have been some useless ones recently.

I also think injuries are going to be a big problem in the Premier League until at least after the 22-23 season, given the compressed scheduling forced by the pandemic and the inane timing of the World Cup. We have had some shocking benches the past two years, often with literally no offensive reinforcements, bar maybe Albrighton, as well as some pretty makeshift defenses. It's a good thing Thomas wasn't out on loan at the end of the 19-20 season. I think it's good to have a few prospects in the U23s, just in case. But yeah, playing a bunch of older makeweights, as we have traditionally done, isn't doing anyone any favors.

The majority of loan moves to the lower leagues in recent seasons have all been pretty successful?

Under 23s played a pre-season match against Crystal Palace Under 23s at Seagrave today - Lost 2-1, Clark was sent off in the first half, Wakeling scored in the 70th minute

- The opening goal did then come for the young eagles after a quarter of an hour when Street’s deflected shot fell to a trialist who fired into the bottom corner.

- Palace were then awarded a penalty after half an hour when David Omilabu was elbowed at a corner, resulting in a red card for Leicester’s Clark. Street stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to double the lead.

- Leicester eventually got their goal after winning the ball high up the pitch, Jake Wakeling cutting his shot across Whitworth into the bottom corner.

- Palace reacted well after conceding and had the opportunity to regain their two goal advantage from the spot for a second time as Street was fouled. However, Street’s penalty was well-saved and it was cleared to safety by the hosts.

- Palace were pinned back in their half for much of the second period, but they defended strongly. That didn’t stop chances sneaking through from Leicester who were on the search for the equaliser, but nothing troubled the visiting ‘keeper.

Hasn't Clark had a red card before?

Four academy players in the squad yesterday, 1 starting and 3 on the bench. Brilliant to show there is progression if you are good enough

I know Thomas is List B, but it's nice that we are seemingly in a position to have a full UEFA squad.
