Thanks to this amazing place things are looking a lot brighter.  I've got viewings tomorrow for shared accommodation and will be able to put down a deposit if successful. Thanks mate

That’s good news. I’ve been where you temporarily are many years ago in different circumstances as a teenager. DM me anytime if you’d like to talk. Just get somewhere tomorrow no matter how temporary, let me know how you get on please buddy.

Horrible situation to be in.At least you have a job, which will become more important than ever.Without knowing yr financial situation I would take anything you can to give you a bit of breathing space.I’m presuming you have very recently experienced a shit storm in yr personal life.Maybe obvious to point out but if you rough it tonight, keep away from grass. You’ll get bit to buggery.

Yeah I've been desperate to stay close to work and my kids. I could go and stay with family back in Leicester but would only create longer term problems for me. Yeah its a relationship breakup which was entirely my fault

Yeah I'm already covered in them as it is haha

Can't advise on your situation but all Sikh Temples (Gurdwara) offer free food for all during the day to all people, there is no religious requirements.

Thank you.  I genuinely have no idea if their are such places in Norfolk

I see others have suggested it, but the Airbnb is probably the easiest and cheapest option.

I had some serious problems myself a few years back and I did that for a few weeks.

No deposit and if you speak to the landlord, they're happy to reduce the rate for guaranteed income.

Think I managed to get a room for 12 quid a night.

Best of luck mate, don't suffer in silence, there's some amazing people in here to offer advice and encouragement.

Things will get better.

It's not just the food thing either.

When I was backpacking in some of the more dangerous parts of India, I always tried to stay in a Sikh village as it's part of their religious obligations to give protection to strangers and travellers.

You've probably written about that before in other threads, if so, send me a link to it, would love to read about your journey and some experiences.

I was amazed how easily someone could become homeless a few years back. A lad I knew through a good mate had an absolute massive fall.  Got in an altercation at work with a customer and was sent home, and later sacked.  Gets home that day only to find his Mrs in bed with some bloke whilst the kids were at school. In the space of less than an hour his World was turned upside down. Two weeks later he’s homeless and sleeping in the roughest hostels he could imagine surrounded mainly by seasoned homeless people in a system he had no clue about. The council didn’t really care about him and there was no way he was going to get a flat through them. The whole story showed me how vulnerable we all are without sometimes realising it. He eventually came out the other side I must add but those few months must have been hell for him.

Pretty sure I haven't - maybe in passing.

I've spent lockdown working on my memoirs; I have considered posting some extracts on here, but I'm yet to be convinced that's it's a good idea.

I'd be happy to offer any advice you might need when you get to go, but it was forty years ago so I'm not sure it would be entirely relevant.

HI,

I'm a regular poster on this forum but have decided to create another account to remain anonymous through embarrassment mainly.

Never thought I'd be saying this bit tonight I prepare myself for my first night of homelessness. Its self inflicted and I do have options to go back to Leicester to stay with family but that would mean me losing my job which will only create further problems. I also want to stay where I am to be closer to my 2 children.

I've been searching for shared accommodation but so far nothing is happening too quick.

Has anybody on here ever slept through and could maybe pass on some words of wisdom or anything

Thanks

Get yourself a tent and go camping for a few months. Join camping and caravan club and it will cost you £12-15 a night. They have showers and stuff and is perfectly safe.

May give you some breathing space. Failing that if you have a car you can kip in a services and use the facilities for £15-£20 per night.

I did camping for about 9 months a couple of years ago. It helped me no end.

Best of luck.

Never even thought of ths, could be a great idea for 3-6 months or so, keeps you near your kids, keeps you in a job and keeps you smelling fresh and clean on a daily basis.

Update as of about 2pm:

Update!

This morning I have secured myself a room in a shared accommodation less than a 20 minute walk away from my workplace and train station so I can see my kids. Thanks to the unbelievable generosity on here I've been able to put down a deposit and pay a few weeks rent to see me through until payday.

I know I've said it already but thank you all so much for helping me to carry on

Good stuff

I’d be really happy to read them. 👍🏻
