This was simply an exercise to show fans, and higher ups, what this process would be like for stadiums, mostly designed to funnel people in quickly.

For those seemingly happy to get in without a check, they were simply tallying up what people had i.e vaccinations, tests, neither to get an ideas of numbers.

"WHAT IF I CANNOT CONFIRM MY COVID-19 STATUS?

If you are unable to confirm your COVID-19 status in a spot check, you will be advised that it may become a condition of entry for all Premier League venues going forward, but granted acces

The information gathered from these spot checks will help everyone prepare for a future scenario whereby COVID-19 certification checks become mandatory for entry to King Power Stadium"

After yesterday's debacle Boris is set to scrap the vaccine passport idea

The biggest learning point is that the app dont work at the kp

Just download a copy.

Seemed to be massive queues yesterday but not one check when I went in.

On the subject of it being the club. Pretty sure man United had checks there was a article somewhere on sky.

Yup, any crowded event the app (and general 4G) struggles. But this should hardly be a shock.

Hence there's the download option for the pass

You can download the pass before you leave the house and it stays valid for 30 days. That’s just supporters being unprepared

I’m all for everyone getting jabbed, staying safe and keeping Covid under control.

The passport is/was pointless, it’s only use was trying to coerce people to get jabbed and the cynic in me thinks maybe it’s achieved that objective so it can be scrapped. ;)

It didn’t prove you hadn’t got it, due to self reporting you didn’t actually have to take the test to provide a negative result (I’ve no idea why a system that can read a barcode couldn’t be adjusted to read if there were one or two lines at the C & T immediately above).

Would it make more sense to link the vaccine passport to accounts? You prove the status and then you can buy tickets. Obviously you can still share tickets to mates etc so it’s not fool proof (unless ID is checked), but the current method isn’t working anyway

Exactly, but you know what the ticket office is like.

I can’t even begin to imagine the chaos.

GDPR minefield.

Vaccine passport scheme for nightclubs and large events in England will not be going ahead, Health Secretary Sajid Javid tells BBC

Might’ve saved some people, but let’s face it - Covid isn’t going away and a passport will only make events marginally safer.

If we’re honest, it’s like trying to go the rest of our lives without catching the common cold. It’s impossible now. Take a vaccine if you want a better chance of survival, but the chances of not catching Covid at all is minuscule now.

I refuse to live my life like I did a year ago ever again.

It's nonsense. Sorry but we're a club having 32000 - largely vaccinated - fans together and they're asking for COV-ID at the gates, clearly deciding that football isn't for everyone. The un-vaccinated should be no more discriminated against than blacks, asians, gays or lesbians. I can just imagine somewhere like Old Trafford, The Emirates or Wembley inviting people from all over the globe to watch the game and the hold up outside as people try to produce papers, apps etc on their phones.

The queues and hold ups alone that this will cause outside will doom this to failure. Hopefully.

You (and a lot of other people here) seem to have selective reading/hearing.

You do not need a vaccine to enter the stadium, it has been made very clear it was EITHER proof of double vaccination, or proof of a negative lateral flow test.

But that does suit your I wAnT mY fReEdoM agenda does it

To ensure the safety of everyone in attendance and to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission, the spot checks, which are part of new Premier League protocols, will ask everyone over the age of 18 to provide one of the below:

- Proof of full vaccination for a period of more than two weeks

- A negative lateral flow or PCR test result from within the previous 48 hours

- An exemption from COVID-19 vaccinations

This is directly from the club website, as other have said you can have you covid passport downloaded to your phone, this was sent in plenty of notice. Anyone who wasn't prepared for this only had themselves to blame.

Comparing having to show proof of vaccine or negative flow test to racism ect like in this thread just makes you look foolosh and ignorant.

If the vaccine passport is being scrapped, the health secretary needs to take the responsibility for it and make sure that we don’t end up in a f**king firebreak lockdown in October or December. Cannot take another lockdown, that’s a far bigger issue for me than whether Joan or Doris in block A2 has immunity or not.

Doris is a massive anti vaxer

But it doesnt keep everyone safe does it?  Everyone I know with covid right now has a vax certificate!  For those who are vulnerable these checks add nothing.  Queing up is just an infection risk

It doesn't, it's heavily dependent on trust that people won't abuse the system (sending fake negative flow tests texts ect)

But there's too many people who think they are above the system with the attitude "ha I didn't have a test and I got straight in. **** The system" and it shows in this thread

I don’t understand your third sentence, but queuing is kinda the same risk as being in the middle of the block. Best to just arrive early and sit near edges if bothered.

Yep. There’s a lot of tossers. This was demonstrated beautifully at Wembley.

what I means was that even people with a certificate can have covid19 and can pass it on.  having a certificate does not keep others safe. As  I said in another post I know 5 people who currently have covid who are all double vaxed.  Imo it promotes an illusion of safety. My third  sentence suggested the crowded queues didn't seem safe to me.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and I think you’ve just read headlines.

These are called breakthrough cases. You can still catch and spread Covid whilst vaccinated, but your chances of doing so are greatly reduced.

agree - but I am starting to wonder if some folk are acting in a more cavalier fashion and hence these cased of vaccinated folk catching it.

Well no masks inside or a lack of social distancing won’t help but I know people do want to move on and live more normally .

It’s hard to please everyone .

With the winter coming up we might see some restrictions return.
