The times I’ve been this season, it’s more like they’re doing a survey: eg: Do you have a vaccination QR code, a negative test, nothing, etc. I don’t believe they’re preventing anyone from going in though.

Although they have suggested this will change in October, so I wouldn’t count on getting in with nothing if that’s your question. It sounds like they plan to do testing on a random sample of people to see whether they have a negative test or QR code. That’s if they can make that work without chaos, of course.

they do random checks on the gate, but as it gets closer to kick off, they check less and less. Then about 15 minutes before kick off, they just stop checking full stop.

I walked straight through for the Community Shield and all home games this season

In fact of the 4 of us who have been to those games so far this season, none have been asked

I was a bit confused as to what was going on, to be honest.

Both games I've been to, there was a big old queue to get into A Block as if something was happening on entry, and then you get to the end of the queue and there was nothing.

Did they do it for a bit and then bin it off when it was getting towards kick off?

I agree it would be sensible to go along assuming they'll be checking

On the game I went to, they seemed to check only those who appeared keen, or even desperate, to be checked. Mainly elderly folk.

A polite but somewhat stern look would be more than enough to dissuade an 18 year old local student of Somalian descent dressed in a hi viz bib to look elsewhere
