Another 9 darter this afternoon.

Easy sport this lol

They're quite common on the floor competitions but less so on staged events. However, there seem to be plenty these past few years. No one has matched Phil Taylor's double 9 in one match (televised). I remember when MvG hit one and then another perfect 8 straight after before missing D12. That would have been incredible, back to back.

Can remember one match where I think Taylor hit 2 against Wade and pretty sure he was on for a third... It was only a first to 10 leg match lol

Yes, that's the one I was referring to. Was maybe 2010 or around then. Premier League final or UK Open or something.

I reckon there was only 2 in major events before 2000. Lowe in 84/85 and Lim in 1990.

Been about 50 since 2001 when Barry Hearn took over....

Soutar v Portela absolute belter of a match

There’s always some cracking games in the early rounds.
I prefer watching it at this stage, shorter format and you get to see loads of different players rather than the same old faces.

Most darts players are fat and ugly but tonight we get the rare glimpse of a bit of gorgeous eye candy up on the oche.

G’won Steve Beaton

I remember seeing him in the local Morrison's years ago, pair of grey joggers. Not sure eye candy is what I would use though...

Out of order cheering him missing double IMO. From what I know of Beaton he's a decent bloke. I guess it's just trendy to support Fallon these days

Honestly as somebody who spent a few years around dart players working around the exhibitions they play week in week out, Steve Beaton is one of the most liked and respected players in the last 20 odd years from fellow pros.

Fallon is awesome but I would guess player wise most will be cheering Beats on

Agreed. However, most people attending these days don't really know much about older players so don't always show the respect. The crowd in general is quite thuggish these days.

Well done Beaton for beating the crowd more than anything. It all got a bit scrappy towards the end but I could watch Beaton's silky smooth throwing action all day.

It's the smile and the walk for me lol

It's not Fallon's fault but players are eventually going to thrive playing against her just so they can give it to the crowd and shut them up

Thought he spoke really well there. What a genuine, humble, and grateful bloke. Like he said, when his head is right he can still compete - even at his grand old age.
