....it seems he just cannot catch a break!!!

The Man Utd board are doing a great job of ruining that club, and long may it continue.

They've got no idea what they're doing. At the same time as they are undermining the manager, they're sending the message out to potential signings that they will freeze you out and trap you at the club, just for wanting to leave.

The guy's barely played for them for about two seasons. Why would he sign a new contract to protect his value? What have Utd done to keep his market value high?

What a toxic club, and what a way to put off future signings or even current players from signing new contracts.

What price Bruno Fernandes tries to force a move away when Utd try to bring contract negotiations to the table?

Pride before a fall.

Could have easily net 15m -20m last summer.

He now leaves for free and gets a massive signing on bonus from his new club.

More likely Man U need him now that Greenwood won't be playing for them

I did think that, to be honest there was no way SSN or anyone else in the media was going to give that as the reason, so lots of chatter has happened as a result of no clear comms.

For me this is the most obvious answer to what went on on deadline day, especially as they'd already loaned out Diallo before the news broke.

.....it doesn't encourage him to go out and give of his best!!!

He is not getting game time and the club is prepared to see him rot, absolutely no incentive to be around the club let alone go and represent them on the pitch. The situation with Youri mirrors what is going on at United, in respect of a player not signing a contract. The difference will be that we would not be so childish to attempt to stop him from leaving, and would seek to play him up to the last day of his contract.

If i was Lingard i would tell them to stick it, not needed when everything was fine not they are a little bit short in a certain position you are needed??

I would wrap myself in cotton wool and await by new massive contract / signing on bonus.

He doesnt owe United anything they are the ones that have screwed him over but keeping hold of him.

Lingard's stock wont drop in the next 6 months just because they wont play him. It wouldn't surprise me if he knows where he is going in the summer already so he is probably working on his own with his new teams fitness programs etc.

United are just a joke of a club these days.

If they were the club they used to be they wouldnt have a caretaker manger in place they would have cherry picked a new manager from anyone in the world.

They would look and be run like here except with a ton of cash. Could you imagine?

I guess with greenwood being ‘ unavailable’ Man U are thinking that the money  they could make from being in Europe outweighs the amount of money they could have got from a transfer

100%, that article is bollocks. Greenwood won't play again this season.

Won’t play ever again more like apart from China or Dubai or somewhere like that in a few years

He is 30 in December, and only has 205 career league appearances...Of which I imagine a decent percentage are as a sub.

His form at West Ham was the exception during his career, it wasn't the rule like people are suggesting.

...the level of competition in that team would have been a factor!!!

Lingard's problem was that he came through their academy, when they have the ability to purchase anyone that they could choose. He would more likely have had a stellar career elsewhere if he did not come through within that culture.

I still believe he has something to offer most teams and we would benefit with him in our team.

I'd sell Maddison for big money and replace him in the squad with Lingard.  As good as Maddison is he's slow, In a team Brendan wants to play quickly.

Lingard would offer us Mobility Pace with Strength as well as Goals.
