I’ve seen a bit which has encouraged me but his failure to track both Moses against Spartak Moscow and Kante today is inexcusable. Sold himself on the halfway line today for Kantes goal. Get Kante back....should never have sold him

Doesn't want to be a bit part player...similar to Praet....Soumare is young.... comes in with a chance to fight for his place....the aforementioned similar to Gray have tried fighting for their place only to end up on the bench and before the clock runs out on their careers want game time....sick of being benchwarmers I guess. Can't blame Mendy....comes in beginning of last season plays well yet as soon as we were able to put Ndidi back in DM Mendy was chucked on the scrap heap....never had a look in...not even for cup games....put yourself in his shoes and imagine how shit you'd feel. I don't blame him for sticking his 2 little fingers up at Rodgers...fair play to him. Similarly last season we were crying out for Praet to be fit again to cover Youri yet when he was Rodgers insisted on continuing to play Youri....its all on Rodgers I'm afraid. MalletFox Posted 20 November 2021 Posted 20 November 2021 Game completely bypassed him today, he was an absolute passenger. Was really disappointed with his performance, I expected he would have a level of inconsistency being young and moving to a new league but things I had assumed about him, such as being a box-to-box midfield destroyer with running power just doesn’t seem to be there. He doesn’t look like he has the pace and like Hamza, seems to be out of position causing gaping holes in the middle of the pitch. how many times today and against Arsenal could players literally run 35/40 yards without a player being close to them, it’s mind blowing. The balance of the team is all over the place at the moment and I don’t think he helps.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 20 November 2021 Posted 20 November 2021 That first 45 minutes from him today was genuinely one of the most disgraceful I’ve ever seen. I’m not exaggerating when I say that. Ambled round, was bullied by anyone he came up against, the rare occasions he got it (occasions which were rare because he made no effort to move to get into a position to receive it) he played sideways or backwards. It sends a horrendous message to him and everyone else that he was allowed to come back out for the second half. Dewsbury-Hall might still be finding his feet on the ball in the Premier League but my God he runs more and shows more impetus in his 15 minute cameos that Soumare does in 90 minutes. 1

Guest Electric Yetis Posted 20 November 2021 Posted 20 November 2021 Thought he was dreadful pre-season but wanted to give him benefit if the doubt. Still got to give him time to adapt but shite so far.

I mean, you are exaggerating unless you've only followed City for a year. He was poor and looked like he didn't know what his role was, but even Youri has had worse games than that in recent memory imo 1

I've absolutely no idea what Soumaré is in the team to do, but whatever it is, he's not doing it. 1

I just used Youri as an example to say that even our best players have had worse games recently than Soumare did today. I do think Soumare is getting more shit than he deserves though considering he's a young player trying to settle in a new league in a completely dysfunctional team right now. He's definitely a better player than what we're witnessing at the moment

I clocked in about the 10th minute today that he was ambling and kept an eye on him for the rest of the half. He was miles off it. 1

The worst thing is how he lets people run past him, like he expects someone else to do his job. Maybe that's how it's done in the French league but you can't do it here. I will say of course it's hard to come into a new league and the whole team is playing badly, which can't help. But he's noticibly bad. I've felt this way for a little while and the recent games have only reinforced this belief. ....then someone needs to get into his ear and explain!!! Once someone has failed to do what he has been asked to do and he fails to correct the error, you then will have to nip it in the bud.

However, I still think you're exaggerating by saying it was 'one of the most disgraceful ever'. Just can't buy that even if he was quite poor today. There have been scores of players that have been worse than anything seen today.

There was a great bit of play second half when he did a stepover but soon as he needed to release the ball he’s found wanting. A back five and two defensive midfielders is no use against anyone though. ...seems like the fear factor has got a grip on all our players!!!
kingfox Posted 20 November 2021 Posted 20 November 2021 Not surprised to see various posters turn on him. When we signed him I did say that his defensive and attacking stats are non existent. All he is good at is carrying the ball, apart from that he offers very little. We are now seeing exactly that.

We had the personnel on the pitch at the time to make it work. Sending Amartey to Right Back with Castagne going to Left Back and KDH making the extra man in the middle.

He needs to get involved more and effectively, start to boss the team around, it is a big ask, it is the only way his game will work for him.
LVFox Posted 20 November 2021 Posted 20 November 2021 Lazy off the ball and a coward on it. Only times he impresses is when he either has no option but to dribble or play himself out of trouble. Needs to sharpen up and quickly

You didn’t see this against Legia? He’s reactive rather than proactive. He reacts to the game as it happened rather than it happens. Strikes me as the type of player whom a scout watched have a stormer once but then didn’t watch how he inconsistently performed. Praet quite simply the better player. Makes more happen, scores goals, moves off the ball Edited 20 November 2021 by Cardiff_Fox 3

Bang average at everything Rubbish. He was great in the Charity Shield and against Moscow. It’s ridiculous that he is being being held up as the latest scapegoat. He’s a young lad. Give him time and he’ll be a very fine player. Already is in many ways. Not today though. 3
cropstonfox Posted 20 November 2021 Posted 20 November 2021 Praet ,Mendy ,KDH or Hamza all bring more.

cropstonfox Posted 20 November 2021 Posted 20 November 2021 It looks like he's a shit signing that people think if they wish or believe enough will miraculously be good.
escape2victory Posted 20 November 2021 Posted 20 November 2021 Don’t know why but I’ve got a soft spot for him and I’ve seen enough to think he will a player for us. At the moment he is a bit ill disciplined positionally hence looking much better when playing in a 3
