Typical- on last on MOTD

Really strange intro as well - Palace in FA cup semi final and could finish top half travel to Leicester…then nothing. No mention of being in the quarters of a European competition and above Palace with 2 games in hand

They really didn’t like being pressed. With the rotation and tactics, Brendan needs some praise.

I thought our pressing from the front and work rate off the ball was superb yesterday! Set the foundations for a relatively comfortable afternoon.

Gallagher was non-existent and rightfully dragged.

A good performance, thought it was a good all round performance, although felt Daka was poor.

Just a point about VAR, if the first penalty taken had been scored would the penalty have counted since Soyuncu was found to have encroached the area.

Yes the goal would probably have stood!

The law should be consistent either way.

The tricky blues are on a roll. Good win that you know.

Strikes me as weird you'd single the guy out that made the second goal as being poor above anyone else?

I can see him being the next Iheanacho on here, people are already starting to throw disproportionate amounts of criticism his way. Even in the match ratings it's ridiculous how much lower he is than some others given he never stopped running and got an assist from some good, Vardyesque team work.

Both Nacho and Daka have struggled a lot over the last couple of months because we've created very, very little striking chances in the box for our 9s. I'm not saying their movement isn't partly responsible but it's also just been really substandard service.

I noticed that too. At least Shearer waxed lyrical about KDH

Odd too that they talked about Conor Gallagher, who had a rubbish game.

.not sure if you are musing while typing, but had the first penalty gone in, it would have been a goal!!!

Does VAR count encroachment the other way too?

e.g. If a penalty is saved but another player scores the rebound after encroaching, does VAR disallow the goal and give a free kick to the defensive side?

Genuinely interested.

yeah it does i beleive its a freekick to the opposition , If Cags hadnt cleared the ball it wouldnt have been retaken either.

My understanding is that encroachment only counts once the encroaching player impacts play. So if Cags had left the ball alone and let Kasper collect it they wouldn't have retaken. But i think Cags did the right thing. Zaha does a subtle stutter which slowed his run down. Was the right decision but harsh in the grand scheme of things.

In the Arsenal game, encroachment would only have counted if Saka had scored a rebound  and the goal would have been disallowed.

I just watched it. They mentioned both the fact Leicester had two games in hand, and that Rodgers was resting players due to the quarterfinal, but it was at the beginning of the match commentary.

Fair play. Maybe Gabby was trying to even it up

As a one-eyed Leicester fan, Iam acutely aware of Southgate's anti Leicester bias.

Three of the five England internationals that started for Palace (is Martin (more caps than Premier League winning , FA Cup winning Albrighton) Kelly still a Palace player?), three have won their first caps recently.

I doubt in the run up to the World Cup KDH will be considered ahead of Gallacher.  Gallagher is a good player but a direct comparison of him and KDH...

Likewise, Mitchell may be good bit is he better than Thomas.  Justin is better than both and can play either side.

They showed that on SKYs little 3 minute highlights it was never a pen.

I wouldn't say never a pen, if Salah goes down after that "push" arms splayed liked he'd been shot, the ref would be pointing to the spot quick as you like. Doesn't help that Madison has the tendency to go down easily.

Deserved win and two great goals. Momentum is building in the league and the home from has been strong in the last 15 games or so across all formats.

.. Maddison does like going over a lot, but it looked like a penalty to me!!!

If the ref had given it, it wouldn't have been overturned by var because their defender definitely had his hand on Madders back, so would have been deemed not a clear and obvious error. That said it would have been a soft one, and I wouldn't have been best pleased if it had been given against us.

Interesting that you thought Shearer waxed lyrical about KDH, because I felt it was a bit of a half arsed analysis of him. Especially when you think how the pundits have positively drooled in front of the nation in the past in their analysis, over the likes of Mason Mount and more lately Connor Gallacher.
