This Selby/Bingtao match could be a long'un. 

 

I like it though, to a point, as good as the excellent hundred breaks are it would become like pool if every frame was like that. Need a bit drama in snooker. Safety play can be brilliant at times.

Mark is hanging in here. The grinding matchplay in full flow. His safety is top notch.

Yan looked close to his best in that session and Mark still came away level. The mental determination to do that is incredible.

Hopefully he smashes him. But can’t stand his fans that think they’re his best mates. “Come on Ron” at every opportunity. And also any above average shot he makes the whole crowd goes wild yet if anyone else makes that pot not even a clap. So annoying.

Ah come on. I'm not a Ronnie super fan by any means in fact I think he comes over so badly and whiny on interviews. His attitude towards the game that he has made a loving off is appaling. But do enjoy watching him how can that style not entertain you.

It's true. That's what you get when your a household name and play a game which entertains the masses. I bet the majority of the CUMMON RONNAYYY crowd haven't even heard if most of his opponents. Its the worst in the Ally Pally with all the Cocker knees. 

 

But people like him do raise the profile of snooker so.... Imagine a world of Ebdons in the top 16, no chance that would be featured on the BBC during prime time.

Its just a difficult balancing act isnt it and I guess we take the rough with the smooth and neither are mutually exclusive.

 

One thing I know is that extending the capacity of the worlds sounds great in theory but would attract more dickheads, no getting away from that.

I've flicked between both of this morning's matches and I've enjoyed both but for different reasons.

 

If everyone played the same way that would be boring in itself.

Fair play to Zhao for making the scoreline more respectable this morning, but I fully agree with what Ken Doherty said, this years World Championship came too early for him. He is too much like a Lisowski imo, naturally talented, exciting to watch but lacks that Plan B that you usually need at the Crucible.

 

Selby vs Yan unsurprisingly been a battle of hard match snooker, a good mixture of break building & tactical play, can see it being 13-11 either way.
