Bit of a niche question, but has anyone been into John Lewis in Leicester recently to know if they have a good selection of fridge freezers to view? The only place near us in Birmingham is Currys and their range was really disappointing, so I wondered about getting the train into Leicester early on Saturday to take a look in JL instead.

Thanks!

Not sure which Birmingham Currys you went to, but the Currys at J9 on the M6 is the UK's biggest Currys store and should have a massive range of FFs

I’d call the store before you come. The answer is yes but they usually at some point each month have a selection (quite large) of ex display/excess stock fridge/freezers very well discounted. I picked up an American fridge/freezer for a very good price.

Ah I didn't know about that one! It's a 40 minute trip each way, so not exactly down the road from us. However, it sounds like it might be worth a trip!

That's helpful, thanks!

Trouble us if you do buy one you may struggle to get it into the King Power Stadium after as they will search your bag.

Actually they may not see it so you could be ok 👍

I hadn't thought about that...

Measure your doors/passage ways at home, before you choose a fridge/freezer.

Unfortunately we won't be able to fit a large American style one into the space available in the kitchen, so it won't be an issue. I would wait until we get this kitchen redone, but our current fridge freezer is 15 years old and on its last legs (think we have done pretty well with it though!).

I was reading this morning that due to several reasons (shortage of materiels, shipping costs etc..) that white goods have gone up around 30% in the last 12 months. This may explain the shortage but they are saying prices will go up even more. Perhaps may he worth getting a 2nd hand one for now or getting the one you will want to last for the ling term

That's interesting - but makes sense in the context of everything else going on in the world. We will definitely be looking to invest in a good quality long term one - that is why I want to view in person rather than buy online, as so many are really flimsy and not built to last.

If you find a place local place to look round And you find one that you like, you can always see if you can get it cheaper at a reputable place online.

I used to sell Fridge Freezers back in the day and we always abbreviated them as FFs

That was in the days before text slang :D
