If there was a prize for looking the most confused in the goal, he'd win it hands down. Every time the ball comes his way, he looks like he's just seen a ghost, and then turns his head in the opposite direction of where it's going.

Twenty three games in and it is safe to say that this bloke is shocking. I never thought that he would be the predecessor for Schmeichel, but I believed that he would be able to hold his own for a season. I look at him and think he is literally good at nothing, Kasper had his flaws well-documented and he was far from perfect, but he was an immense shot stopper, good at 1v1s and decent at saving penalties. Ward does not tick any boxes when you look at the attributes of a decent goalkeeper.

 

In a weird way it has almost changed my perception on the importance of having a good goalkeeper. I do not disagree with this notion that we would be better off if we still had Kasper, in fact, I genuinely think that we would probably be about six or seven points better off - in other words, we would be mid-table instead of being in a relegation battle.

 

It is criminal that we did not sign a goalkeeper. I do not understand the logic - look at Ward: practically a backup keeper for his whole career, why did the club have belief that we could just shoehorn him in? Mental. I get why we signed who we did last month, but a keeper should have been right up there as a priority. Look at Forest signing Navas, they now have two keepers (who we could have acquired) that are both much better than Ward. It is really poor from a recruitment / talent identification point of view.

Remember folk (myself included) wanting Kasper replaced as he didn’t come for crosses… if only we knew how good we had it  Ward is comfortably the worst keeper I’ve had the displeasure of seeing as the clubs number 1 in the 26 odd years I’ve been going to watch the boys! Surely Iversen can’t be as bad

Remember the attempt at the no-look save vs Brighton where the player hit it straight at him but still managed to score because Ward dived out of the way of the shot?

After a shaky start at Nice, Kasper has actually become quite immense for them. They have the 2nd lowest goals conceded in the league, and Kasper been featured in the team of the week several times. He pulled a masterclass the other day saving three 1v1s. Last game saved a last minute penalty to secure a tie.

 

He's gone from 17th place and turned it around, he's currently ranked the 4th best keeper in Ligue One, at this pace he might finish top1-2.

Glad for Kasper but for some reason his success pisses me off. Unbelievable how we've downgraded.

Iversen could be the 14th/15th best keeper in the PL and he'd be a serious upgrade. This bloke wouldn't start for Rotherham. He's terrible and I cannot believe we didn't try and address this in January. It's a big, big risk going with him.

Fair to say if we'd have exchanged keepers with United before KO today at Old Trafford that we'd be walking away with 3 points!
