Sharpe's Fox Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 Honestly think Schmeichel would have saved one of or even both of Rashford's goals. Instead we have a sack of potatoes between the sticks and at least the spuds can be used for Sunday dinner. 3
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 Manages to contort his body to move out the way if the ball in ways I never thought imaginable tbf. Absolutely crap. 2

He scores that against most keepers. The second was just horrific positioning and even attempts at a save. The third everyone else had given up anyway. He could’ve done more than falling flat on his arse for the 1st goal. How is that action making himself bigger? Never seen a keeper like him - he’s way, way out of his depth. 1
TrickyTrevLeftPeg Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 Dreadful keeper. Despite our wins recently he's conceding two a game. Not commanding enough, dosen't make himself big enough and simply he's not good enough. Iversen deserves his chance but sadly won't get it. 2
Guest kristianity77 Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 Let's be honest, I don't know what his career was like before us as I can't even be arsed to look, but he is stealing a living as a professional keeper. I firmly believe hes one of the worst keepers in the top 4 professional divisions. He's absolutely atrocious. The defence looks shaky purely and solely because no one trusts him to do his job properly.
SecretPro Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 He really is rubbish. New keeper is THE priority in the summer surely.
ajthefox Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 I think you would expect a top striker in form like Rashford (or Nacho/Vardy) to put away all of those goals but even so he did some strange things. The way he backtracked for the first made it easier for Rashford and the second was bizarre. Really struggling to understand how we haven't given Iversen a run, if he's worse then why is he still with us and how did he get player of the year at Preston.

Stevosevic Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 Said before but I’ve never seen a keeper make a goal look so big when a player is through one on one. 2

Like night and day when Kasper came on the pitch before leaving for good. I want Ward to succeed here but losing Kasper was the writing on the wall. We'll be extremely lucky to find anyone to replace him. Not that hard its just we've gone from Schmeichel to Ward. Asking for relegation

It's always the same thing when there's a remotely 'wide' one-on-one... backs off so that there's more goal available, and overcompensates to avoid conceding at the near post, both of which result in a large gap being left from the centre to far post. Basically an open goal. You then get some saying there's nothing he can do... but that's because he's put himself in the position where there's nothing he can do at that point. 4 1
Dames Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 He’s only in the team because of the comments Rodgers has made in the past and is too proud to back track on them. He’s certainly not there on merit. 3 1
Tanya Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 I see no reason the club won't replace him in the summer... all the stuff about Rodgers sticking with him because he is too proud is speculation. Until then, we must endure a championship keeper between our sticks.
Harpenden Fox Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 Out of interest does anyone think he is good enough? I’m not asking to have a go at anyone, but would be interesting to see if anyone thinks he is competent.
Tanya Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 He is not competent at this level. I think he'd be an okay championship keeper. We elevated him when he was content beinv a backup and it shows.

The ONLY person who I know who thinks he’s good enough is unfortunately the only person who needs to think he’s good enough - Mr Brendan Rodgers.
Vestan Pance Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 The difference today was the goalkeepers. I'd question his positioning during a one on one, he almost seems to move to one side to make it easier for the striker. He's sadly nowhere near our past great goalkeepers. 2
Legend_in_blue Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 We really shouldn't be in a relegation fight with the players we have but, if there is one player mostly accountable for our position down near the bottom, it's Ward. The mismanagement in not bringing in a suitable alternative to Schmeichel, or simply refusing to let him go, could very much still work out a costly decision.
Joe90lcfc Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 A Wales second choice keeper is never gonna be prolific is he

FoxTimmy2 Posted 19 February 2023 Posted 19 February 2023 Has anyone actually tried to search Danny Ward on youtube, Twitter or elsewhere? It's common knowledge now that he is the worst keeper in the league, probably one of the worst keepers to ever start at this level. 2
