Here’s a little conundrum for you:

Two people are racing, one is blind and one is not.

The fans of the blind racer are clapping them on, cheering, giving everything they’ve got.

Theres silence for the racer who isn’t blind.

There’s a picture finish at the end of the race. Why? Because the blind racer has run the wrong way, out of the stadium.

The fans backed him though, so well done fans.

I have some questions

Fire away, can’t be worse than the OP. Let’s have some fun with it

The original poster has a point if within the context of the stadium. At some point, the fans collectively have got to stop feeling sorry about missed chances / opportunities in past seasons and start supporting what we’ve got. If not, it will go very Sunderland.

However, you can’t really criticise fans for having that behaviour on an isolated discussion forum which is literally in place for fans to exercise their opinion. It’s also not party to players, staff or club unless they go looking for it unlike the stadium

I assure you it can be worse;

  1. A minor one for clarity... by 'picture finish' I presume you mean 'photo finish'
  2. Were the blind runner's fans also blind, or did they not understand that running out of the stadium was a sub-optimal approach?
  3. Assuming the sighted runner didn't run out of the stadium (what with him being able to see the track), why (and indeed how) would there have been a photo finish?

1. Correct, although allow for a play on words

2. If we are talking metaphorically, relating this hypothetical situation to our own, some of the fans are also blind

3. The finish is photo-worthy (hence play on words), because you have a runner running the other way as the sighted victor passes the finish line. Metaphorically that’s us in last place in the premier league versus other teams

The point being, you wouldn’t cheer on a directionless challenger versus one who knows where they’re going. So why should we?

I got this, but feel strongly that the after-the-fact use of incoherent, face-saving metaphors to defend tourtously doggo analogies dressed up as 'conundrums' should, at the very least, be frowned upon in this forum.

Well, even though I an the OP, I am going to join in with this.

1. I assume that too.

2. It needs some kind of audible version of the 'Stop Forrest' sign. (Gump that is)

3. Some cameras have long lenses.

4. Is a race between a blind and sighted person really fair?

Frown all you want my friend, the only thing it’ll get you is deeper forehead lines ;)

I have seen some great moments in my 32 years following Leicester City, but probably more distressing ones.

I started attending in the 'Pleat Out, Shipman Out' period. I have seen decent managers leave and decent managers abused to the point they almost leave.

The club nearly ceased to exist! Leicester fans rallied around and had whiprounds to pay players' wages. Two old players dipped into their pockets to save the club - for me, demonstrating what a special club we followed.

We even dropped into League One for the first time in our history.

Throughout all this there has been a type of supporters who baffles me - the Teddy Thrower. The Teddy Thrower is always the first to howl and scream at any player who makes the tiniest mistake. They will be the first to call for a manager's head during a bad period, some will also choose to sit behind the manager so they can impart their considered wisdom during game time.

In the past, Teddy Throwers used to be a minority. These days, especially on Foxestalk, they are in the ascendancy. They will question why people continue to support their team, how come people can possibly have opinions different to theirs, and how come the people who are involved with the club professionally don't do exactly as the Teddy Thrower suggests.

Now don't get me wrong: this isn't about whether or not we should sack BR. It is about whether there has been a decline in the moral fibre of our supporters since we have tasted success.

And moderators, sorry if there was a thread about this back in 2007 - feel free to merge.

Well written and well argued post.  Like you I have been on the city rollercoaster for decades.  Started with a 3-2 home defeat to Spurs in '67, endured the '69 Cup Final defeat to Man City followed by relegation but, in the end, it's not life or death or even the most important thing in life, though it felt like it at age 13.  We are only supporters.  Just because the ticket prices are in the tens of pounds rather than two bob doesn't give us the right to think we are owed neverending joy and Monday morning bragging rights.  Take the rough with the smooth, wipe your tears away and remain firmly behind whichever group of eleven gets to wear the shirt.  As for the manager, who are we to judge?  If we were even qualifed to make some of the remarks written by the Teddy Throwers I doubt the owners could find, or even afford, a better candidate than the present one who, after all, ticked off one of my bucket list items with that cup victory ( the Premier League title wasn't even on it, it being so far out of reach).

Thought you meant the folk that shoot out the stuff towards the fans.

That was the highlight of last night. One was having a struggle working the shooter for a while and they were just dropping out onto the floor. Then whilst trying to master it and looking confused, she slipped and fired one at 100mph at someone in about row 3 of the East Stand. 🤕🙈

people show their support in different ways...alot of the negative posts (including mine) come from a desire and belief that what we are seeing is not acceptable and if in our daily lives we were not performing we would suffer some consequences...albeit with some positive reinforcement in the mix hopefully

Call me cynical but when individuals are driving cars worth 6 figures away from the scene of such a below par product for which they are responsible i feel like its my right...nay my duty ...to throw my teddy high in to the air and say '''NOT GOOD ENOUGH I WANT QUALITY. EFFORT ALONE ISNT GONNA CUT IT"

King of Metaphor - meet 'frowned upon'

Thanks but my turn to question. Are you a teddy thrower or not?

The hatred for Rodgers is killing this forum

Once it became more important than the football, it was only heading one way unfortunately.

If you had a blind child in a running race, and you either shouted;

1. You are doing great, it is hard but you are managing - BTW a bit to the right...

2. What are you doing in a race? You are crap at this, you can't even see!

Which do you suppose would have the best outcome?
