Reminds me of Cags.

On his day, looks organised, strong and carries the ball out of defense and into midfield, on a bad day looks over the shop and a liability.

I must admit Coady and Vesty in the same team makes me nervous at prem level due to pace but it is a worry we have so many centre halves who are of a similar standard. You could swap the 4 and I wouldn't know what to expect from any pairing.

I think we can get decent money for him as long as he keeps the affro. He cuts his hair we only get 2m.

I see this comparison on here a bit too much.

Cags was a level above. You don’t make the PL and Bundesliga Team of the Year if you’re Faes.

Plus Cags was actually rapid whilst Faes thinks he is but is closer to Jannik in pace than Cags.

Faes is better on the ball but Cags was a better defender.

Cags had a habit of snowballing errors when his confidence and his head went, it always stopped him being consistent when things were difficult.

But Faes just routinely gets complacent or brain dead and does utterly stupid things making a lot of the same mistakes consistently.

Neither are perfect but Cags would walk in to the team this year, don't really want Faes anywhere near it tbh.

Faes might be that but he also thinks he’s like a prime Maldini with his inflated ego, so often overplays on top of his brain fart moments, I can’t stand the oaf.

Cags’ Cruyff turn though when the last man was a thing of beauty….like you said, he would walk into our starting 11 and likely be one of the first 2/3 names on the team sheet.

Soyuncu didn’t actually get into the Bundesliga team of the season. I thought he did but I could never find it!

Das Erste German national television channel named him in theirs.

I would welcome Cags back with open arms to replace Faes and we would be stronger straight away.

I'm not sure I would.

Always capable of a melt down and he was dropped straight after that Spurs game in our relegation season when he was strongly  (and rightly) criticised on motd for feigning injury in the build up to a Spurs goal.  Playing dead to try to win a free kick instead of getting up and defending.

Anyway, Rodgers dropped him after that and I don't blame him.  I guess we'll never know what went on between them but my suspicion is that instead of taking his medicine and working his way back into favour, he sulked and fell out with the manager.  I don't know that for sure of course, but I can't think of another explanation for the fact that we never saw him again under Rodgers and if that is the case, then he let us down.  Also, he was another one that let his contract wind down with an eye on the exit door.

I will agree that he is better than Faes, but not someone I would want to see back here.

Makes the odd mistake because he gives it a go and gets stuck in. Said before…  Coady and the big lump think they are some great sweepers who never make a tackle and just steadily retreat to the 6 yard box. The reason we have been losing heavily at times is down to them not engaging with any players. Keep those 2 at the back we are down. Wout has to start games.

One thing going for him, that Coady and Vestergaard don't have, is that he's fearless, not afraid to go to the ground and to clash heads. Bottom-line: we urgently need a good CB.

We should play 3 ATB that would allow Kristensen and Justin to get higher up the pitch as we seen today.

Who are you dropping?

Kristiansen and Justin are not good enough as wing backs.

Our entire backline have issues defending tbf.

They need more help from the midfielders. If we're going for this 3box3 setup then the 2 at the bottom need to be able to shift.  Nobody seems to cover the gaps.  The Doctor mentioned it but despite Winks and Soumare being largely decent for us this season, perhaps there's an issue playing them together, because they don't both seem to provide either enough defensive cover or enough attacking impetus.  I'm not really sold on the benefits of the 3box3 system when the fullback becomes a part of that front 3.

You could play Bilal instead of Soumare or Winks and he would probably do a better job and then bring Mcateer or something into Bilals postion

I've banged on all season, the answer is to drop Vards. He doesn't press anyway, just cuts off passing lanes..

Play Bilal, bounotte and Stephy as a creative three and add an extra midfielder (Skipp, Hamza) to take the workload off Winks and Soumare and provide emergency cover for the beleaguered defence.

As the game progresses, we could look to open up more and add Daka + Vards
