The expanded World Cup will be like champions league - so many dead games until the knockout phase. Quality is not the aim - max cash generation is.

And yes, Qatar will go down in history surely as the worst host nation team ever. Has any host nation ever gone out with no points whatsoever? I think even South Africa got a win, even though they didn't get past the group stage.

Everyone's saying Qatar are out if they lose, and obviously they will be, but are they actually, mathematically, yet? Surely there's some (possibly ever so slightly unlikely) scenario where they and Ecuador both beat the Netherlands and Ecuador beat Senegal?

Re: Rankings Ghana actually challenging themselves playing friendlies against decent European opposition rather then Qatar who’ve played numerous friendlies against weird and wonderful national teams. 
 

What bright spark at FIFA scheduled a Qatar game the same time as prayers to Mecca? Crowd were leaving at half time for the most sacred prayer of the week

I can see how a bit of luck they might beat Japan in a one off, just amazed they got through the groups and the other knockout matches.
