How has our Mendy been so far?

Average at best. It’s been the worst game of football so far, in terms of quality. It’s been awful in fact.

Yet another reason why this World Cup is a complete farce. The locals aren't even interested, or to be more accurate, there aren't enough locals for people to be interested in it.

I've never been to a World Cup match, but would love to go to a game. You bet that same feeling can be felt around the world in literally any country that has even a passing interest in the game. Even in South Korea / Japan, the stadiums were full. Granting the competition to a new nation is fine, if they've got some kind of pedigree or interest in the game. For example a world cup in Algeria or Morocco would have a lot of very passionate support. The atmosphere for games that are supposed to be at the very elite level is almost non-existent.

Football was invented by the working class as a means of entertainment after a hard week's slog on the job. This World Cup is the most blatant example yet of those with wealth snatching it from those that invented it.

I agree…but now the “football” is now on the actual pitches in Qatar.

80% if not more in the stadiums, are the International faire, those passionate fans that go to the major tournaments, some will choose this has their one off bucketlist

Tournament..(Ditto for Rugby).. Qater organisers didn’t need these 60k plus stadia,

but they have the money. Other Worldcups also either didn’t have the capacity for the need,or also like Qatar had empty seats .Russia & Brazil ,made issues or points,on some games not sold out,or just empty spaces.Plus these 2 countries

are very poor on labour rights, and human rights…

I has a working class bloke, know it was the wrong descision for Qater,

just for the descisions you mention. In the end for me,the football started

yesterday,that all that interest me…

Why..since the 1930s the World Cup & football organisations have been corrupt

since FIFA & Euefa, African/S.American FAs after the war grew, they have been

always accompanied by corruption, exchange of finances & high losses.

Amusingly Qatar is probably the 1st country that can carry it…They are just looking for recognition in the status Quo world,to project Arab world & business…

Nothing really extraordinary for this Quo vadis world we now live..

LGBT,Racism, labour abuse concerns are topics that for 80yrs were conveniently ignored…last 8-20yrs rightly topics actually dragged forward, and rightly now at the forefront….

But now this moment for me it’s about the football…

Thankfully FIFA spreading and sharing the game World wide, with all its intern corruption, highlights, spotlights Opens up to the status quo, all areas of corruption

& puts them up , so normal people are confronted with the shit, instead of pushing

issues away from themselves…

But now this moment for me it’s about the football..!

But slowly all discrimated peoples have a voice a platform, within our societies.

Every sporting or other world event should be used to question our world,

We shouldn’t prevent sportsman,or other going and performing in those

“questionable ,beastly”countries ,because there is no projection or influence of change /social education if there is no interaction..

We use the sportsman to showcase our human/social concerns…what a great way & weapon to showcase these issues…Because our concerns on these issues would die ,get swept under the carpet, and never challenged if we banned sporting movement..

but  this moment for me,it’s now about the football….

Todays modern sport has bums on seat audience, TV fanatical fans audience , foreign Tourist fans audience who may never get into the country or city they support..but fans non the least..

Bragging rights today that you go to watch your team stadia-live has no meaning of priority, because many European clubs, especially PL have created this laughable corrupt idea of membership, without any chance of obtaining a seat,

So loyal fans are also  happy to watch from afar, but admire the ones who sit on the terraces. How much does gate-moneywise Club/international actually  bring into the coffers today..I really don’t know!

That said I deeply believe

Atmosphere is important and the mainstay of Profi football.

There Thats it now..I presume  you know my last words…

That’s exactly the sort of performance tournament winners put in these days tbh.

The Netherlands will be hard to beat, which is more consistent with previous winners than blowing teams away. Gakpo is a star in the making.

Apart from the short lived Cruyff rumours, has there ever been a Dutch international to play for Leicester?

Well both Bruma and van Aanholt became internationals eventually...

Still so many empty seats for a host nation game.

That is actually the entire native population of Qatar gathered in one place.

Sprinkled with Senegalese.

That's usually called, even though the attacker was only looking for it.

But you love to see that stuff NOT called, and it did shoot a hole in the idea that the hosts will have bought off the refs.
