Lot's of empty seats because Netherlands have boycotted the tournament completely as a nation

If it wasn’t for the Dutch fans it would be much worse. Few people in the stadium estimating it’s about half full on Twitter, though looks better than that on TV. Given that it’s one of the better group stage fixture and only in a 40k stadium it’s a bit of a worry for some other group games.

Apart from the short lived Cruyff rumours, has there ever been a Dutch international to play for Leicester?

Whilst with us or at some point in their career?

Van Aanholt and Bruma have

There's no way it's only half full. Looks pretty full to me on TV. I wonder if people were delayed getting in - that happened to some England fans due to ticketing issues.

The look and atmosphere of this world cup is just absolutely shite aint it, half empty grounds like some kind of pre season tournament

I know we get snooty about footballing hotbeds and experiences but this proves you can't just buy it and replicate it.

Maybe. There’s plenty of seats left even in the lower tier though.

As some have pointed out, the atmosphere are dull it's like a pre-season friendly where like one of the big teams like Man U and Chelsea are playing in Doha in front of 60k but all the supporters in the stadium are mainly rich locals. The real hardcore fans can't afford to travel. May only be game three but from what I am seeing is that country is hosting a world cup that does not really have the taste for football anyway. It's a bit like giving the world cup to India, India yes may fill the stadium's but probably the stadiums atmopshere's wouldn't be amazing as it's more cricket loving country. To make my point, never every country football loving country to take it to country with no history of football overall and limited love for is just pointless. For me this world cup should have been in Australia, as at least the football in OZ is improving, they have got stadiums and the interest in football in Oz also growing due to the recent appearances of Australia at the world cups.

Fewer than 3m people live in Qatar, the critical mass needed for full(ish) grounds at a word Cup is probably > 10m

You sure you're watching the right game?

There are thousands of empty seats.

Not like they're in the concourse having a beer.
