Didn't this used to be called the 'second round'?

It’s gone all international.

Poland could be an outside bet for the semi finals the way the draw is taking place.

They would have to not lose tonight and then beat the Netherlands or USA in the quarters, which I can’t see happening.

Think I agree with you now....

Would have to beat France, then England so they’d be worth it if they got there.

Chances are France will put 4 or 5 past them.

Anyone else reckon Japan v Croatia is the only one that looks like it mignt be worth bothering with?

Netherlands USA will be decent, and Morocco could quite easily turn over Spain the way that they’ve been playing.

I'd agree that Morocco are capable of beating Spain, but I'd be surprised if it was a good game!

I suppose Netherlands v USA could be decent, but I'm not hopeful. Either a toothless stalemate or a comfy Netherlands win - I'm not expecting rip-roaring fun. Hoping to be wrong though!

The way this world cup is going so far underdogs have every chance

Its possible this round of 16 could be the most uninspiring one of any world cup

Only if you’re banking on the favourites winning every game.
Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco have all pulled off shock results so far.

On the face of it England, France, Brazil, Argentina, Holland, Spain, Portugal, should all advance - but I’m hoping a couple of them will fall.

It's possible, but this world cup has been anything but predictable so far. I'm not ruling anything out.

I think the USA will give them a really good game. And if it's still 0-0 on 70mins it will surely be more tense than toothless?

It might be tense for them, and their fans, but I don't care which of those teams goes through! I just don't think many of the ties look like temptingly mouth-watering clashes for someone who is basically neutral and just fancies watching a good game. Or just me, basically. Everyone else might think they look great!

Japan v Croatia should be decent especially if Croatia score early on.

Loving the fact we’ve made the last 16 and all confederations are still represented at this World Cup.
I’ve been very impressed with the Asian teams; 3/5 qualified through their group and the other 2 picked up impressive wins along the way.
