I very much doubt he’ll be involved, he’s only bit part with the seniors during training currently, but Enzo thinks a lot of him so the future could look good but I wouldn’t expect him to be involved anytime soon.

He may not appear soon but this doesn't really make sense.

He's either training with the group or he isn't, he isn't picking up cones.

I suspect he's not being rushed back because Enzo is aware how a return from such a serous injury has to be managed very carefully, which is a welcome attitude compared with the carelessness of the previous regime.  I hope that Enzo regards him so highly that, especially given our weakness in the number 10 area, he will gradually work his way into first team appearances after another month or so.

It was confirmed by Maresca that some days he is training with the first team and other days he is back with his age group.

I hope he’s managed well and we see him in January during the AFCON whilst others are potentially away and perhaps others are moved on, at the moment there should be players ahead of him because of his return from long term injury and the fact he’s untested.

Enzo said he's been dropping in to some sessions when they need him, but with youngsters he takes a careful approach especially returning from injury.

I like that it can be fluid, takes the pressure off - both the player, who doesn't have one 'big chance' and the manager, who can manage expectations and doesn't have to commit to promoting a youngster to the top ranks

Wonder if he might make the first team squad more if Fatawu goes away for AFCON, especially with Wilf & Kelechi also away. Would leave us with the below, without accounting for injuries/ suspensions. Only Souttar missing out based on the below, although he could be off anyway

                       Hermansen

           Faes - Vestergaard - Justin

                    Ricardo - Winks

   McAteer  -  Praet  -  KDH  -  Mavididi

                             Vardy

Stolarczyk / Coady / Doyle / Hamza / Casadei / Albrighton / Yunus / Alves / Cannon

better to put him on the bench over a second striker when we only ever use Vardy or Nacho

Nah, half my enjoyment this season has been wondering if Cannon will start pre-match, the anticipation of him coming off the bench during the match, and then complaining he didn’t make the pitch post match. Don’t take it away from me!

He looks mustard.

Needs managing in his return though. Significant injury that could still go one of two ways.

We're all desperate to see him succeed but I'm not certain that promotion so quickly after recovery is wise.

When he gets to the first team he'll have a weight of expectation - some fan, some club, some self - that might lead to over exertion.

I'd advocate for a few months of confidence building in a less immediate environment.

I agree, the injury he sustained was a major one.  I'm sure the sports scientists/medical team are working with him a great deal with the latest and greatest available treatments.  I wonder if he's getting stem cell treatment injections.  Apparently that's had success in strengthening and speeding up recovery for these types of injuries.

I don’t agree with someone of that age being punished for years but the end of the season would have seemed appropriate.

I’m not saying he shouldn’t be able to train and keep fit but that wasn’t a tackle that was assault.

A two year ban would have been fair.

Bad football tackles happen every day without any repercussions.

it’s a game at the end of the day. All that play consent to the risks involved

Yes I wasn’t saying you weren’t, I just think multiple years is too harsh.

That wasn’t a bad tackle, it was a targeted karate kick.

It really isn't when you consider the impact it had on Wills mental health especially at such a young age.

He lost a year of development not knowing if he would ever play again.

...it was a pre-meditated assault!!! something such as that off a football pitch would have him up infront of a magistrate.

Yes I’m not saying it wasn’t and if it was just a magistrate the maximum sentence would be 6 months.

Yes he’s done incredibly well to come back so quickly but I don’t think a young person warrants years of punishment in a case like this. However, he certainly deserves a stronger punishment than he received.

Those sort of tackles happen every week in Sunday league.

They were part of the game years ago.

From Alves point of view, it’s unlucky but what happens on the the pitch, stays on the pitch. It wasn’t a great challenge but he was never going to get an extended ban for it. If you fall or twist incorrectly, he could have picked up exactly the same injury from a tactical foul.
