It wasn't for holding on for the ball to long was it? He ripped their left back two or three times then offloaded it. I think it was more to do with him taking the piss out of someone on consecutive occasions more than anything 😂

Alves became Leicester City’s youngest player for 15 years on Saturday when he was brought on as a substitute for the final few minutes of the 4-1 FA Cup victory over Watford.

One of the brightest prospects in the club’s academy, Alves was keen to show off his quick feet and was dancing around Watford challenges minutes after coming on.

But while he might be able to dribble around players his own age with ease, doing so consistently against Premier League opposition is a much more difficult task.

So when he was dispossessed near Brendan Rodgers’ technical area, the manager had a few choice words for the attacking midfielder.

Rodgers explained: “I said to him: ‘Have less touches or you’re coming off!’ That was the first thing.

“But I loved the youthful spirit that he brought into the game, it was just a joy. He was bright. It’s just learning the areas.

“He’s probably waited for that moment all of his life. He loves being at Leicester. He’s come into the game and looked bright.

“Supporters will be excited by him in the future, but when it’s a different level, if you try to have too many touches in the wrong area you will lose the ball.

It's like when you remember something monumentally dreadful about a shocker of an Ex isn't it. Shudders lol

Watched a replay on Sky  of three years ago when he was 15 displaying his skill sets. Looks to have all the technical ability and if he can transfer that into the pitch he will be some player.

Great to see Will Alves back from his awful injury, hoping the lad exceeds all his potential and it’ll be great to see him fight for a first place like KDH and Marcel Have done in the past, you never know he could be a regular star like KDH if he continues to improve !

I think this kids going to be excellent.

appreicate he’s got to come back from an ACL but can’t wait to see him get some minutes.

Didnt Rodger’s have a role that only allowed the flair players to have 3 touches minimum before releasing? If so, I don’t think we will see that under enzo!!

My point was I hope he isn’t at Leicester city for ten years plus ala Andy King.

If he realises his potential, he will be playing abroad in the same vein Bellingham currently is and that probably sees Leicester City in a stronger position than the first scenario of him being a long term player here.

Because he couldn't improve with us as we gain success stay loyal and win stuff with us?

I hope LCFC & Alves can enjoy incredible success together. Maybe Maresca could turn us into a destination club rather than a stop over club. I can but dream !!

His injury was a shocker and it makes me angry that the little thug who did it not only got off lightly, but has since been involved with England.

All that said, if he can regain full fitness it may be a blessing in disguise that he's going to have his first real development as a senior pro under Maresca's man management rather than R*dg*rs. That alone makes his ceiling higher.

It’s also made him do a lot of work in the gym as he’s bulked up no end

We need to make money from the academy. A breakthrough year this season, a solid start to PL life next year with the next being the stand out season, and then off for £75million plus somewhere will do just nicely.

...would that mean a club on the continent is going to pay us £40m for him!!!

They are a bit short on the cash front across the water, we would have to sell for £80m for us to have realised a good profit and him going to a top team. The thought that he could not be here for a 10-year stint is strange, why not grow with the team, are you saying that Vardy wasted his career staying here?

If it is a matter of the players' welfare and his future earnings then I can understand. If someone loves the club and wants to pledge his career to the club then, that is not a slight on or a lack of ambition from the player. He can achieve all the call-ups for international duties, and with Maresca at the helm, perhaps give us Champions League football.

Promoting a player from the Academy represents money you don't need to spend. It can be way more cost effective than just selling a player for short term profit.    The plan requires Brighton type management though !!

Of course - but the big fee sales are where the big money is made. Its hypothetical right now because the lad is still yet to start this season. We all know his potential, but if he is a big hit (which is well within his grasp), i would not be surprised to see him go for big money.

No idea if he’s fit enough but I’d take any academy player over a second keeper on the bench. Just for the experience it’d surely be worthwhile.

I just cannot understand dressing three keepers.  It boggles my mind.

Tbf, the sales of Barnes and Chilwell alone have probably paid for the academy running costs for the next hundred years 😄

Alves is one of the most important young players we’ve had in years, and to be honest he could be one of the biggest beneficiaries of our relegation, if we had stayed up chances would be limited but now we have dropped down he can ease himself in slowly against lower opposition and get some good minutes under his belt and grow his confidence.

He was definitely one of the players I mentioned as a “silver lining” in relegation terms as him and a few others can get minutes they likely wouldn’t have got otherwise. Plenty of young players have been wasted rotting on the benches of premier league clubs.

plus we are absolutely desperate for that Maddison style midfielder who can link the midfield and the attack effectively as that’s somewhere we definitely lack in transition. Right now we seem to hit teams on the break and immediately go out to the wingers who eventually pass it back to the midfielders and it ends up being passed around the back 4 when we had a perfect opportunity to create a good chance initially, we need someone in the middle with the ability to beat a man and drive into space.

Hopefully we take our time with Will and nurture him into the role.
