Rudkin being a nice bloke is probably not a great surprise. You'd imagine he'd be long gone if he was an arsehole.

I think the more important part was his opinion about how DOF should be seen and not heard.

I'd be fascinated to canvass other views within the game on that but I'm not so sure it's correct. I liken Allen to the old school type of manager who was in control of everything and would not react well to a Director of Football having a media influence within the game.

Whilst you don't want that to get in the way of the requirements, neither should such an influential position not require a level of front facing accountability and communication.

I think it would be varied, I think there is a middle ground.

It sounds like this episode needs to be enjoyed with a fine wine, or perhaps a can of moderately priced lager?

Tyskie. @Ric Flair wouldn’t have it any other way

Just recorded it. Will be up soon pal

Very good discussion, as always. I think between you, Jake, Jordan and yourself came to a pretty fair and accurate summary of Cooper: tactically limited, unadventurous and prone to some maddening decisions, yet has made us much more determined and competitive than we were with a far superior squad during the relegation season. I agree that he isn't going anywhere unless we get dragged into the relegation zone, but I've got a feeling we won't.

Jordan completely nailed it in his explanation of why xG stats are so limited and should be treated with caution.

Re: Ayew, I suspect this will prove to be one of those maddening aspects of Cooper's approach mentioned above, and that we'll probably just have to learn to live with it.  Like everybody else I would love to see us play Mavididi and Fatawu on the wings against Southampton, but I am as certain as I can be that Ayew will be on the right with Ndidi at number 10, with Winks and Skipp behind him.

Yeah and it'll make it all the more galling this time around as we've absolutely destroyed them 9-1 deploying a team devastating on the counter. That said Abdul didn't come on until we were already 4-1 up away there but his performance at home vs them was arguably the best individual performance from any of our players last season. He was unplayable.

I hope Cooper gets asked about that because I'd be fascinated to understand his thinking if he does indeed go all turgid.

another good pod, very good points in regards Cooper as well

hard for anyone either cooper in or out to not disagree in regards his in game management etc, when he seems to be more reactive not proactive

good to see Rick say the same thing about Ayew

Brighton is the best example of a team coming up but eventually wanting to kick on and getting rid of Chris Houghton for Graham Potter. Houghton served his purpose hopefully Cooper can serve a similar role for us, I don't think Espirito Santos is that massive kick on for Forest either long term. Bournemouth have also made that progressive decision moving O'Neill on but he also massively served the purpose for Bournemouth 2 years ago, laying the foundations for where they are looking to move. Villa just skipped levels going from Gerrard to Emery, Newcastle had money so they were able to move levels from Bruce to Howe.

enjoyable listen but you guys failed to mention Walsall which for me with Coopers selection, was the most baffeling. To not play Bilal, Alves, McAteer or Golding, but playing Soumare and Buono had me scratching my head, that was it for me, i cant even remember if he gave a start for Abdul. Also no mention of performances of Edouard, seems like you guys have more on your mind with the half marathon. good luck with that btw 😁

Haha was too much to cover, would have been a 3 hour pod. We're going to do one early next week so without a game we can take stock on stiff We haven't covered as much such as Odsonne, Bilal, the academy and Bounanotte who deserves a full hour just him.

Me listening to Ric and Jordan going back and forth on Cooper.

Jord made some good points that made me think (briefly) that maybe I should back Cooper more than I do. But then Ric sledgehammered home the multiple reasons why the bloke is an absolute liability, so I'm now firmly back in the 'Cooper Out' camp!

If any of you salts of the earth have a few coins spare to donate to raising money for LAMP for our half marathon run this Sunday, that would be hugely appreciated.

I also didn't understand this point.

A large number of people still believe that the manager buys all the players. Leicester Mercury this week in fact ran with a title "Cooper's signings rated out of 10 including one who has 2"

I think it was Rodgers who was the first to say for us that he was the coach and not in charge of buying the players.

Why shouldn't those who chose to buy Khannouss for arguement sake not come out and tell us why they thought he would be a good fit. Not saying he won't
