Not sure it classes as an aesthetic or not, maybe one for room 101. But this whole walk out of the tunnel then line up nonsense.

Whatever happened to the players running out, the odd one of them carrying a ball, sprinting into their halves!? Miss those days!

Boot a spare football in the air as well

The evolution from that in the 80s was for the City to run out then line up in the centre circle, at right angles to the halfway line, to wave to the crowd.

Arsenal also used to do it when they came to Filbo, which always seemed obnoxious and patronising.

Paul Gallagher scored against palace (a worldie) and in his celebration hit the ball out of the goal into row z. One of pearsons first game. So good.

Independiente still do the 'four-side salute' - saw them do it away at River and wondered what it was. It's fantastic.

One for room 101, those micro shin pads that some players wear. What's the point? I could understand it if it they were worn by a player in the mould of Vinnie Jones or Roy Keane, but they're often worn by the softest players in the game. Based on that logic I suppose it makes sense, as they often go down if another player breathes on them, so very little chance they'll ever encounter a proper challenge, but it just feels a bit wrong.

On the flip side, for the aesthetic football niche, what happened to the fully integrated ankle pads with shinguards?!? Used to love them knowing I could put in a right nasty challenge on someone without worrying about snapping their legs in two.

They’re not doing right Jordan.

They should be in Admiral tracksuit tops, position themselves perpendicular to the line and wave sheepishly at the 9,000 who have bothered to turn up.

PS You’re doing a great job as the new host on the pod. Fair play to you for stepping up.

He scored twice that game

Both lovely goals. It was Sir Niges first game back after his Hull hiatus

Boot room 101:

Most of the pre-game warmup. Players lining up to try and score against a keeper with zero pressure and 1/10 hitting the target. 2 midfielders spraying long balls to eachother. Keeper coming out to claim crosses in a deserted penalty area.

Probably been said but for the aesthetic one:  keepers in trackie bottoms instead of shorts. 👌🏻

Gabor Kiraly the god father of heinous baggy grey joggers.

Football 101

Guardiola and tippy tappy killed the 'twat, you're shit, ahhhh' goalkeeper long goal kicks. Get it the odd time at this level but 20 years ago it happened non stop especially at aways. Used to be great fun in away ends behind the opposition GK goal.

Another one gone involving goalkeepers when they made mistakes. 'dodgy keeper, dodgy keeper'. Another class one seemingly disappeared
