Published in the Daily Mail. The indelible watermark of gutter level bilge.

Hey, the Mail is the baby boomers bible you know. To question its authority is tantamount to heresy. In fact it is top to bottom garbage. So why do people insist on quoting it on here?

The conference League run was down to abject failure to qualify from a Europa group we should’ve qualified from. We’ve not been big spenders at any point in the premier league except for the season after we won the league. Our model throughout has been to sell a big name player. Our problem is we have bought badly. Teams like Brighton have continued to utilise the still extensive buy cheap sell high market. Mitoma cost £2.5m and he’d walk into our team.

We aren’t finding gems like this, our scouting has been poor. Our senior management team have allowed bloated overpaid wages and allowed contracts to run down. Our medical team have failed to understand and fix the ongoing injury crisis and  Rodgers is inflexible and increasingly old fashioned, encouraging slow deliberate football, rigid formations and rigid player positions. He rarely trusts talent from the U23’s. His treatment of potentially valuable players in Soyuncu, Iversen, Praet and Mendy has been poor IMO. All players have regressed under him bar one player in Maddison.

There’s been a series of major errors at all levels but especially at the team management level with Brendan.

Think that just about sums it up nicely. All we need now is a certain owner to wake up and try and put it right. Sadly, it's beginning to look like he hasn't the nous. Whether star struck by Rodgers or just gullible it doesn't bode well. I wonder how the rest of the business empire is going in comparison 🤔. Very sad.

Largely true but if you didn’t enjoy that Conference League run and those games vs Rennes and PSV  then you won’t enjoy much following Leicester. Felt like the last of those types of night we’ll see.

I’ve been a Leicester fan for many years and whilst I enjoyed the conference, It was tainted by the fact that we were competing in it because we had failed in the Europa. Roma were in the competition by winning something, we were in it because the team were unsuccessful in a Europa group we should’ve qualified through.

the conference league run was great but that and the run of victories towards the end of the season against sides who played like they were already on the beach, papered over the cracks of how bad we have become,

On the evidence of that article we're very lucky to have BR install his genius on us and what a job he has done with a squad full of lower half Championship players and a League One budget. Who could deny him all their best wishes when inevitably Real Madrid or Bayern call on his services?

I reckon those two seasons we were in the top 4 before finishing 5th may have worried them, one of the big 6 failed to make Europe and almost failed to make the CL which would have been a huge hit to whoever it was.

Yes agreed. The thing is those top clubs go through ups and downs but are always there or there abouts. Look at how Arsenal have come back from years of being in the doldrums even Man united are on the up again. we simply cannot compete against their wealth which you need to sustain or even be concidered to be a top six club. Spurs are-  well spursy not won anyhting for years but will always be considered a bigger club than us and have the ground , gates and fan base to prove it.

The only way I can see us being regarded as a top six club is if we have someone like Man cities wealthy owners to keep you there if you get there. Man city prior to their present owners were most definately not considered a top club were they?  and i dare say they are still not regarded by the elite as such as they have no pedegree in terms of winning in europe, wereas  Liverpool-Man united .chelsea ect do.It takes years of sustainable top six finnishes to be accepted as one.

Think you’ve missed my point, we’ve been a top six side three times in the last few years.

Big 7 now with Newcastle but every year there’s a realistic chance that at least three if then many be having a torrid time and someone can sneak in and cause an upset.

I am generally a leave Brendan there fan, I suspect primarily coz we don't want to pay him off, so its out of our hands really considering he didn't get the Spanish archer in Sept/Oct & they turned it around.  Sadly we came out the blocks so slow against Newcastle and should have beaten the housery Fulham @ home.

But this is a great post, Mitoma was stunning.  Would disagree with the U23's as there are plenty of Lestah kids in the team, Thomas, KDH, Barnes.  But the rest is really spot on, and I think nails us spot on currently.

Those players can't think on their feet, it has all been coached out of them AND when he takes umbrage, players don't get a look in.  Look at Ten Hag with Rashford oversleeping, got the message across, showed none bigger than the club, but also realised Rashford had to play.  But all the support and infrastructure comments are totally on point.

There’s certainly been an unsettled feel to the last 2 seasons- mostly down to players who are unsure where their future lies. Time I’ll tell whether things settle or spiral further downwards but both are possible.

Rather than the end of an era it feels like a pivotal moment where that is one path but there is another.

Historically Leicester stay in the top division for about 6-8 years but we’re already outperforming that trend so if we can overcome the recent slump we would become firmly established as a top flight club.

I hate football journalists

The job just does not appeal to me at all. Travelling to watch sides I am not bothered about, Brentford v Palace for example, having to watch a match throughout even if it is dull as ****, having to write about it then talk to the managers afterwards. Sitting in press conferences and occasionally write a piece about why Southampton fans booed their manager or so and so have become "entitled".

I almost admire those that do it but I couldn't. Makes you realise how little you care for the overall game, to be honest. I like (or used to) going to watch Leicester but giving that up to cover Fulham v Watford? No thanks.

I think an era is too much of a generational gap to describe this instead of a transitional phase only. If we didn't have the world class infrastructure it may be different.

No I got your point Hackney which is why I said agreed. I was just remarking on the reality of being a top six side on a sustainable level. Being in the top six for two or three years then nose diving towards relegation like we now are shows how much we were punching above our weight. unfortunately we are not a threat to the established royalty of the Prem, but we sure gave them a bloody nose and without doubt the greatest title win in the whole of the footballing world given the odds. no one can take that away from us.:scarf:

If by some miracle he manages to turn things round I'd agree, however just out of interest are you actually a Leicester fan, or do you follow him from club to club?

I was present at Stan Collymoores 5-2 hatrick win at home back in the day against Sunderland, my mother is from the lovely estate of Braunstone, so yeah i guess i am, id say im more of a faithful LCFC fan by backing the manager and keeping the faith cause foxes nevvvvvvveerrrrrrr quit like most on here, switching alligences every 2 games.

I find it a bit difficult to back a manager that is underperforming, however each to their own, and respect your view. Let's hope by some miracle he turns it round.

If you haven't woken up to the way the media brainwash everyone, perhaps you are already six foot under.

Its designed to evoke a reaction, or depress people. That's what most media stories do.

I think the U23 thing has annoyed me because we have had creative players that could’ve maybe helped plug gaps. Thomas apart, Rodgers is very reluctant to play young lads. KDH was 23 by the time he had an opportunity. We have Braybrooke, surely he should’ve had some time in a midfield that has struggled with creativity. We have Marcal-Madivadua, I get he’s been injured but when he was fit and we struggled to find a right winger, he could’ve slotted in. Why isn’t Maswanhise tested on our left when our only fit winger is having a difficult time? I’m not saying play them for full games but give them opportunities. If they were at Leeds or Brighton I think they would’ve had significant minutes by now.

We've had a number of games over the last couple of seasons, particularly cup games against lower league sides where we could have given cameo roles to some of them. Walsall is another opportunity.
