No coach who doesn't currently work for the club will agree to that. It makes zero sense.

Clarifying doesn’t make your point any more sensible. It’s still nonsense.

Quite a few sources on Twitter saying this in last 10 mins.

Was never an option, He's still being paid by Chelsea because he didn't get paid off and his backroom staff are all still employed. We would have had to pay Chelsea compensation.

Same as Nagelsmann at Bayern, any club will have to pay them compensation should they hire him.

we are better than Nigel Pearson didn't even see that statement lol that is cringe of the highest order.

Would you be clamouring for the manager of the team 14th in the Championship if he wasn't Nigel Pearson, do you reckon?

I can fully understand if Potter takes time out.

He might not be in the right frame of mind to take us through these last 10 games.

He's highly thought of in the game and will get plenty of offers when the times right for him.

Maybe he'll come here in the summer

tbf I understand why Potter wants a break after Chelsea, just hope we dont get someone in who expects a long deal or something, because i think the club will still want Potter in the summer

What established coach, in the recent history of the game, has come in to a club with ten games to go and agreed to take a contract that small? It's minimum two years for whoever agrees.

I could bear big Sam for 10 games…. No more than that tho

it’s probably going to be someone like Big Sam, Harry Redknapp or Rafa. Someone out of work who doesn’t want a long tedious contract.

That's wrong. He's been paid severance.

His backroom staff, well some of them, as some of the remaining staff are long-time servants to the club, are still there because who else is meant to take charge of training etc.

not if it’s an older manager who doesn’t want  a long contract as they are winding down their career. See above.

Whoever we get in as an interim following the above revelation about Potter then I believe the last such one we had was a success in 2007, namely Nigel Worthington keeping us in the Championship of course! Let's hope the interim manages to do the same in the Prem. this time round, be it Rafa, Big Sam or whoever else!

Plenty would take a 10 game run ,with a staying up bonus.

If they did exceptionally well, they might convince the club and fans to extend the deal

They won't touch Redknapp or Allardyce with a ten foot poll. Benitez will want a contract.

Name one realistic option.

Thats the reason I was given earlier.

All Potters staff are still at Chelsea and only he has left the club.

It would have been a huge risk for Potter to come here. Would he have been in the right frame of mind to dive straight into a relegation battle a day after losing the biggest job of his career? If he did come and he got relegated, it would take a lot to recover his reputation. He will have plenty of offers in the summer.

Fat Sam

Spanish Waiter

Probably Hassenhuttl

I can't say as I don't know, but I think anyone out of contract ,with a decent short term deal, would say 'yes, why the fcuk not?'
