Probably planting spuds today.  Thinking about the SNP and not about football.

Just speak for yourself, I personally thought it was a great era. Winning or losing you always felt part of something. I've never felt so defranchised and disinterested over the last couple of years with Rodgers.

Oh it was a ****ing great era. That's why I don't necessarily think we should go back. Same reason we wouldn't want Ranners.

I understand the reason you'd say that and it's certainly a valid one. I do think though that Stowell and Sadler, however committed they are, are perhaps a bit too close to the players and any internal politics. A new face with the motivational qualities O'Neil has might just straighten things out and simplify them for a squad of players that are more than talented and capable of staying up. Would it ruin his legacy if we were relegated? Not for me personally because a large portion of our support are half expecting it anyway and you'd have to be very unreasonable to judge someone over what could be an 8 game season compared to what went before. I certainly think it would inject a huge amount of support and emotional support on a match day. Nevertheless I appreciate where you're coming from.

Top and the board have contrived to leave us in a huge mess. The decision, though absolutely the right one imo,  has been executed at a ridiculous point in time. If Top applies the same business acumen to the rest of Vichai's empire you'd fear for the family's future. He appears to be a very genuine and well meaning man but he and his board has made a complete horlicks of this.

Is this really going to happen. I doubt it.

Anyone who lived through the MoN era won't be clamouring for his return.

The only reason I can think you would say such a thing is that you don’t want him to tarnish his reputation with us…….

Exactly that.

Not sure he knows where the goal is

Harry does know where the goal is! He scored on his debut 🤣

I know his football here was a bit basic, but the truth is a bit of up and at 'em is probably what will keep us up.

I didn't watch what he did elsewhere closely enough to know whether he has more strings to his bow.

Everyone is sick and tired of the football media these days doing stupid things like "combined XI," "Is X or Y better" and "What's the best support in football" to whip up arguments and drive content.

Then football fans go and do it themselves with the utterly pointless MON v Pearson debate. Both were of their time and both were an ENORMOUS net positive for this club, leaving legacies, memories and teams who we will never forget. There's absolutely no need or no point in trying to compare them on who was better. Can we not just appreciate what both of them gave to this club across their spells without the need to ask who was better? Lordy

I would say during a discussion over one possibly becoming our new manager and others thinking the other would be better, would be precisely the appropriate time to dicuss who was better as an argument for who would be better now, on a football forum set up for discussion and nothing else.

Nowt to do with the press or combined XI's. Totally self generated and a discussion deemed worth having by those involved. Those who don't want to, may I suggest just reading it, or not, and perhaps moving on and leaving others to choose what they discuss?

Just a thought. Live and let live type shit innit.

I think if you here Ranieri's account of managing the Greek team at that time it tells its own story. The result was hardly surprising.

Where would one find this? Sounds interesting.

There's a good chapter in "Hail, Claudio" by Gabriele Marcotti and Alberto Polverosi.

Why not? I look forward to seeing Vestergaard put up front when we're losing.

More like in goal for a penalty shootout, cue claridge.. I mean iheanacho.

It was years ago when he was with us. Basically it sounded a bit like a dogs dinner in that he rarely got to see the players for any training sessions to see and evaluate them and probably just an afternoon before a match that sort of thing to the best of my memory.

This seems to have gone quiet …….wonder if O’Neill wanted to bring in an assistant such as Keane or Lennon who wanted  a guarantee they would be Manager next season, and the board weren’t prepared to accept.

Or it was most likely bollocks
