Silebyfox_89 Posted 6 April 2023 Posted 6 April 2023 I'd take O'Neill with an squad type assistant like Big Wes. 1

He clearly knows his football, he has an excellent record, I do t understand the negativity, in the footballing world I can't see what harm it can be to give him a 3 year contract. ...this manager makes a living going from club to club, failure seems to increase his assets!!! We are looking to move this club forward and we need a fresh and dynamic manager to do so. Giving him a 3 year contract would be the equivalent of giving Rodgers 6 years. We have to learn sometime and see this as a proper business and not be dictated to by others. This club's lack of football knowledge is squeezing the life out of the club, let’s stop being bullied.

Don’t get any of this. We need to either survive or plan to consolidate and return, surviving being the most favourable option. Rafa is well liked by most supporters for clubs he has managed, a seeming FT metric for success, is available and has an ok record. The fact he may be expensive is a cost we have inflated unfortunately. Going with the next big thing is a long term project I reckon, or go Marsch and hope he fixes Daka quick sharp.

His record is decent, got equivalent win ratio at Newcastle to Rodgers here which can't be sniffed at, and he has a wealth of football knowledge, if we're comparing him to MON then it's a no brainer. Of course there are more exciting dynamic managers, but they won't join us now, and we need a manager now

Either in the Championship or the Premier league we need to reset this club and going for Rafa on a 3 year plan screams marking time.
Popular Post Vlad the Fox Posted 6 April 2023 Popular Post Posted 6 April 2023 The O’Neil era was great, the Kop (particulary pen 1) was everything the ufs section wants and then much more. There was a real vibe about going, after years of never looking like winning anything we were regularly in cup finals. It was also along to the generally positive nature of the country emerging from 18 years of Tory rule. We scrapped for every point, roared on by a passionate crowd. Great days. 9

Yeah but signing a contract does not mean they or we have to see it to it’s conclusion, does it?

So different now, as I find mid week games a ball-ache.

The very first time I’d seen us in Europe, apologies to all about going down memory lane but they were such amazing times, although the ref was a cheat, Parker red carded for taking a free kick to early 🤔 and at least 2 cast iron penalties not given to us, Martin was furious, blatant match fixing. I love a little nostalgia 😊 2

We have the defenders, we have 3 strikers for 2 spots, 4 if you play Barnes as one because he might not track back and put his foot in enough for a wing back, Ricardo on the right though. 3-5-2 was attack minded in an O’Neill side and a current Brentford one too. Yup the possession based football is now being over thrown for this type of style gerrimin 1
