So about 30 overs then, perhaps? (Because the over rates have been terrible and bad light will probably force them off by 6.30ish.)

 

Figure Aus will look to have a go until they lose a wicket or two and then likely go defensive. Need to hit them early to have any chance at all.

Will they risk losing? Or just aim to bat it out now?

Could easily lose either way, of course.

It won't. People always go on about asterisks these days, but memories are  short, and it's all about results, and this time next year (maybe even next month) the only thing left will be the results.

The question now is whether we take the new ball, if Mo is taking wickets. I think our best hope of quick wickets is Woakes with the new ball, but as they are persisting with Woakes now it doesn't look like he is going to get the new ball after 6 overs.
