Taken him 2.5 seasons to get Bristol City 14th.

I’m friends with a bunch of Bristol City fans and they’re all big fans of the work Nige has done under the circumstances.

I don’t know if he is the right man. However, one thing I’ll say about Nigel, he was given the same treatment by the board as Rodgers this season.

2013/2014 - I think we signed Taylor Fletcher, Bakayoko and Kevin Phillips. Mahrez was signed in Jan.

What did Nige do ? Cry, insult the board/fan base/players ? Write notes. Avoid subs. Alienate players ?

Nah, he just won the league.

That's funny ... I had forgotten  in my Gin soaked stupor that this would would make it three.!!

King Nigel III would be the greatest final episode of any trilogy ever.. and I include Godfather, Star Wars and Exorcist III in that bold statement.

However, many managers will see the City job as a poisoned chalice now.. especially after Brendan's comments in the media about funding, communication etc.

I fear Nigel would see it this way, even if, in the remotest of all possible worlds, he were to be offered a third bite of Top's cherry.

I would love it to be the Once and Future Nige but as this won't happen I think a young, talented manager who will bring guile and passion is what's needed.

...BUT..should those big white you-know-whats grace the hallowed turf for one last call to battle, it would be a dream come true :scarf:

It sounded like things had just started to click in Bristol.

See what happens after next year.

What about if they finish above us next season? It's an even harder sell then.

True. But I don't see any chance this season.

I doubt the board think we need someone to rebuild us. Just someone to gently guide us to the Prem again...

Nigel has always thought carefully about his words and this is not an outright denial of interest

This is also from early April when it was a question about whether we, as a Premier League club, could go back for him.

It reads to me that at the time he was very much: “Me?! No, they wouldn’t want little old me. And besides I’m happy here so I’m ok with that”.

Fast forward 8 weeks and we’re a Championship club in need of a manger just like him….

I can’t see him not wanting to return if there’s a concrete approach.

I'd love it but could you imagine some fans on here if he wasn't successful

I'm sure Zaphod will find a way to twist a 30 game losing streak into a positive

What would success look like? I could see him getting the club promoted but I don't think he's premiership quality an wouldn't keep us up. Those that say he hasn't managed it at Bristol City I'd say he'd have more resources. I'd also add there are probably at least a dozen other managers that could get us promoted, even with the massive squad overhaul needed.

You know he'd jump at the chance to come back.

You absolutely know he would.

I can’t tell whether this is a genuine piece of irony I’m missing or you’ve actually gone and posted that seriously lol
