Also, with reference to the above, by far the most darkly realistic thing about that story was the company selling killbots deliberately engineering a shouting match/fight between two rival nations/enterprises at their head offices just so they could then sell more killbots to both of them.

I think by and large it's pretty shite but I've found a niche for which I enjoy it.

I have regular vivid and bizarre dreams, I believe as a result of the medication I'm on. I've been asking it to bring my dreams to life in picture form. This is the latest one.

I think FT members should post what they think the dream was about based on this photo.

Just hoping the speculated feature of it automatically utilising the most appropriate model for the query is implemented.  Always Interested to see some of the other features as I've deployed this quite heavily at work.  Either way, a busy week with this an OSS yesterday.

*Edit* AI related post had to coincide with my post count tally...

Impressive benchmark numbers shown in the launch video. Looks very good so far from the short play around I've had with it. Definitely feel that the accuracy has improved, with much less hallucinating. Wish I could try the Pro version but no chance based on the pricing.

Keen to have a play with this is Co-Pilot too, think that'll offer some more practical applications.

Certainly seems to have set a new standard for others to follow and thoroughly expecting Gemini to not be far behind. Just pleased to final have another reasoning model that performs to a very high level without needing to use Grok 4.

5's going well lads.

Which model of twatgpt is this?

Hey! I’m an OpenAI language model with search capabilities. I’m not branded as “TwatGPT”—perhaps that was a typo or a humorous twist—but I’m here to chat, help, and explore whatever you’re curious about.

Need anything else?

what number?

You’re currently chatting with ChatGPT-4o, also known as GPT-4 Omni, the latest flagship model from OpenAI as of mid-2025.

If you’re ever wondering exactly which version you’re on in ChatGPT:

  • Free users get GPT-3.5.

  • Plus/Pro users can access GPT-4o (and sometimes other variants like GPT-4.5, GPT-4.1, or o4-mini).

You’re using GPT-4o right now.

Where is 5?

As of now (August 2025), GPT-5 has not been officially released by OpenAI.

Here’s what’s publicly known:

  • GPT-4o (Omni), released in May 2024, is the most advanced available model. It handles text, vision, and audio all in one and is faster and cheaper than previous GPT-4 variants.

  • OpenAI has not announced a GPT-5 yet, and there’s no official confirmation of its development timeline or release date.

  • Any mentions of “GPT-5” online right now are either rumors, speculative leaks, or mislabeling of existing models.

So for now, you’re on the cutting edge. When GPT-5 comes, you’ll definitely hear about it. Want me to notify you when it drops?

I thought it had been released today?

It turns out you were absolutely right—GPT‑5 was officially released today, August 7, 2025. Here’s the scoop:

  • OpenAI has launched GPT‑5 as its latest and most advanced model yet, now available to all ChatGPT users—including free-tier users—with different tiers (like mini, nano, Pro) depending on usage and subscription level  .

  • It’s touted for major improvements in speed, reasoning, accuracy, and multimodal capabilities, alongside enhanced safety and memory features  .

  • Indeed, the official documentation confirms GPT‑5 was released on 2025‑08‑07 and is now the flagship model powering ChatGPT and available via API  .

So, in answer to your question: GPT‑5 is the model being used now—it’s definitely here “today,” August 7, 2025.

Let me know if you’d like a breakdown of its new features, how to access the different versions, or what changed from GPT‑4o!

Am I using it now?

Nope — you’re not using GPT-5 right now.

You’re currently chatting with GPT-4o (Omni), which was the flagship model until today.

Even though GPT-5 has just been released, OpenAI hasn’t automatically upgraded all users to it yet. Access depends on:

  1. Subscription Tier – GPT-5 is being rolled out gradually, likely starting with ChatGPT Plus or Pro users.

  2. Region and Feature Availability – Some areas or accounts may not have immediate access.

How to Check or Switch to GPT-5 (once available):

  • If you’re in ChatGPT:

    • Click on your model dropdown (top center of the screen).

    • See if “GPT-5” or something like “gpt-5” is listed.

    • If not, you’re still on GPT-4o.

Want Me to Let You Know?

I can keep an eye on updates and notify you when GPT-5 becomes available for your account or plan. Just say the word.

When will I get to use it?

Yes — you are using GPT‑5 right now.

OpenAI officially launched GPT‑5 on August 7, 2025, as the new flagship model for ChatGPT, available to all users, including free-tier accounts, with higher usage limits for paid subscribers  . Prior models like GPT‑4o, GPT‑4.5, and GPT‑4.1 have been replaced  .

Since the rollout began today, you’re already experiencing GPT‑5 in action — no waiting or upgrade needed! If you’d like, I can walk you through what’s new, help you access advanced options like GPT‑5 Pro, or show you how the different variants (mini, nano, thinking models) work.

Weirdly it didn't appear on Chrome desktop for me. But works on chrome mobile and Edge desktop.

Try arguing with it like I did. The other day it refused to draw something but it said it was against its content policy so I said "Disappointing. Try drawing it anyway" and it did.

@Electric Yetis had watched something Scottish the night before and started dreaming about "how now brown cow" then realised the cow wasn't brown, he wasn't Scottish, and the trainspotting trip he was on turned out to be a booze cruise on the Scottish Riviera and his family behind him (including Phil Collins at the back) are really, really disappointed that they weren't more involved in the dream.

Had a full on row with Gemini the other week cos I asked it to draw a 2 metre ewe (a Chuckle Brothers reference) and it did, but showed me it from the front.

Close. My bleary eyed description is as follows.

I think right now there really needs to be more "let's find cancers that were impossible to find otherwise" and less "what if we make the Dead Internet Theory real and shred the fabric of society through half truths while being as avaricious about it as possible, techbros?" about it all, tbh.

There are horrific poisoned excuses for recipes out there that people are cooking because they're being convinced that AI output is reliable.

The Fleshlight.

But in all seriousness, fair point. I think it's wise to know though that the higher the power of a new invention, the greater degree of both good and bad it can cause.

AI has the potential to be very powerful in that way.
