davieG Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 Unconscious bias by referees alive and well in the Women’s game. 1
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 Could've won that. Momiki with 2 very good chances at 0-0. 1
David Hankey Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 Seems to me LCFC women are just making up the numbers. Is there any ambition to kick on and move forwards?

You could argue that there are about 8 other teams in the WSL that are 'making up the numbers'. 2

Kirk obviously had to go if he did wrong, but he was great at unearthing little-known gems in the transfer market. I'm concerned the recruitment will go down the pan with him gone.

Pita Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 It’s a great shame they were going very well. Then kirk had to go and it all fell apart.
Oldblueyes Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 Problem is, what is the point in just trying to avoid relegation every season, it must be soul destroying.
Blueman1967 Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 Should have had a point aleast, it was a good game, seem to be lots of Man Utd fans

rugbyblue Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 City competed well for 75 mins but then went down late which is a common theme in the games we've seen this season. Toon made the difference for me. The goal obviously but couple of other good touches. Bit frustrated at Rose. 3 times through on the keeper and 3 times refused to pull the trigger on her left foot. If she isn't confident with it why is she playing as left sided attacking player? Decent crowd today.

ADN Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 First half Leicester showed Man Utd far too much respect and gave them too much time and space to dictate the play. Second half was a huge improvement closing down quicker and actually showing some attacking intent. Rose was a constant threat when she came on. She just needed some bodies in the box to put balls into. One particular frustration is constantly putting themselves under unnecessary pressure on our own goal kicks. Surely we need to develop a new routine for this as other teams suss it out quickly but we continue to persist with it. Some other positives were Janinas return (outstanding again) CJ looked more confident and assured than Ale. Not sure why she didn’t start.

CosbehFox Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 Plus 6,000 today - that’s great to hear. WSL really needs expanding. Bristol relegated but crowds have averaged around 8k 3
davieG Posted 28 April 2024 Posted 28 April 2024 1 hour ago, David Hankey said: So, you agree? Have said all along the FA had a golden opportunity to set Women's football on a more equitable basis separate from the PL but it seems people whoever they were weren't patient enough to let it grow organically and at it's own pace but preferred to ride on the success of the PL. Thus we have a clone of the PL. 2
demon_dog Posted 29 April 2024 Posted 29 April 2024 Thought we were very unlucky not to come away with a draw. As per usual though we conceded a late goal! Although a very good one!! Thought Sophie Howard had a very good game. We have certainly seen an improvement this season, I feel that with a couple of decent squad additions with no loss of our better players (Rantala) we could well be in the top six. We need to recruit a good manager for them in the Summer, someone who help them push on to challenge the top six.
Lineker's Lugs Posted 29 April 2024 Posted 29 April 2024 Obviously a good summer of recruitment could change things, but at the moment I can’t see Leicester being much better next season. 8th at best, could be as low as 11th. There shouldn’t be any relegation danger unless Palace recruit really well. The season after might be iffy though as Newcastle could be joining the party. The PL clone was obviously a short cut to develop the women’s game and has helped the national team, but it does mean the league can be pretty dull for most teams, especially when the relegation place is pretty much decided before a ball is kicked. That doesn’t help grow crowds at clubs like Leicester when many results are foregone conclusions and success is survival with no real hope of anything more meaningful. 2

SouthStandUpperTier Posted 29 April 2024 Posted 29 April 2024 The BBC have finally taken their head out of Emma Hayes' bottom and come to a dawning realisation. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c4n15xnzrjvo Such have been Bristol City’s struggles, concern has been raised about a growing gap between the WSL and the Championship and a chasm similar to that seen between the men's Premier League and Championship could form.
