From Man City in general (not just development squad), I think we need:

- Zack Steffan, Goal Keeper - Played a great season for Middlesbrough last year. USA international. Man City want £10m for him apparently!

- Harwood-Bayliss, Centerback - Young English CB, had a great Season on Loan at Burnley

- Cole Palmer - A young man with a fair bit to prove. Attacking midfielder we'll need  to help fill the hole left by Maddison

I am just going to get on record as saying I am not a huge fan of Zack Steffen. He seems like a really good dude, professional, positive attitude, etc. BUT he's injury prone, he's not the greatest shot stopper, and for as "good" as he is with his feet (which is supposed to be his greatest strength), he makes quite a few mistakes.

Only really want players we have a chance to sign, rather than just develop for a year. I mean, if a loan player carries us back to the Premier League then I'd obviously take it, but it's not really going to go like that. I want to build for the long term not just a quick fix to get us back up so we can be scratching around for replacements just to stay at the same level.

Jesus.

From thumping them 3-0 on the way to winning the title to the prospect of becoming the UK’s foremost cheating club’s feeder club.

How depressing.

Thing is though.... If everyone we expect to leave, leaves, we could be looking at 12+ signings this summer. To get any real quality players in, that's going to take a fair bit of money.

But...

2/3 loan signings, maybe 2/3 free transfers and a player or two from the academy.... we are now only looking at buying 5/6 players which should increase how much we have to spend on each player.

Realistically which of these lads could we sign on a permanent transfer this summer?

@Ric Flair seems like a question you may know the answer too lol

I'd be surprised if the likes of McAtee, Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle aren't either kept in the first team at Man City next season or sold/loaned to the PL.

Cole Palmer, we only stand a chance if he thinks a season with Maresca in a team that will be expected to run close for promotion is just what he needs, rather than going someone like Burnley or Sheffield Utd on loan.

I think we'd be very good candidates to get Carlos Borges, he's supposedly considering leaving permanently. £11m is rumoured to be the fee, he also reminds me of a young Lloyd Dyer 😂

But essentially we will be looking at their best youngsters who either haven't had a loan yet in the 18-20 bracket (Borges, Bobb, O'Reilly, Ndala, Whittingham, Mebude, Charles) or the Championship is a step up (Trafford and Burns).

Man City do have a strong propensity of selling such players if their contracts are close to running down and several have. Let's just hope if that's our plan, they see a forage in to the 1st team with us in the Championship for a season or two rather than being on the fringes in the PL.

As he’s big mates with Di Zerbi, wouldn’t rule out one of Brightons prospects coming here for a season either.

Jensen Weir please

Borges looks very scruffy in his style, reminds me of Lloyd Dyer. I can see why Man City will cash in as he's not their type of forward at all.

I'd obviously be more than happy with him here given where we're at as a club and the rebuild. He's got the potential to develop but I think he'd flop in the PL next season.

If there are PL clubs interested in Borges then not a chance we get a look in unfortunately. Can't compete in terms of wages, or offer PL football. Maybe the Maresca factor will come into play... but if you're a young player, you want to get to the top as quick as possible.

He’s got crazy stats at every level he’s played though, surely the numbers can’t lie?

He would be a bit part player at West Ham and Forest here he would be guaranteed to be first choice I think he would choose here tbh.

You could say the same about Reyes Cleary at West Brom.

Borges is fast, strong, direct and relentless. I think he has lots of potential but I'd be amazed if he's Man City's Cup of tea. His first touch and awareness look lacking. Don't forget Man City don't mind selling the likes of Lavia, Edozie etc. The ones that aren't sold are the technicians.

Maybe at West Ham, but I don't think Forest are spending like £11m for someone to sit on the bench.

They've wasted a hell of a lot of money on such players.

True. Though you'd expect they might try and be a bit more focused this summer, but who knows? Fingers crossed we can get in there.
