Remember when Tielemans, and Evans in the final year of their contract and there was conflict with certain fans saying we saying we should cash in as they won’t be motivated and others saying Youri would be the difference and him keeping us in the prem is worth more than a fee etc etc well remember how that turned out, they checked out and we were relegated, this feels similar with Winks, he has the quality to be star at this level, if motivated and engaged however this does not appear to be the case and therefore it’s highly likely come September the drop off will continue and he will become less and less effective and we will be left with a demotivated and very expensive player going through the motions.

Saturday showed me where he is at with our club, he has checked out and keeping him hoping he suddenly has a change of heart and goes back to his 2023 form are going to be sadly disappointed. The only viable solo too is to get a fee and get his wages off the books and hopefully reinvest in a high energy midfielder who is committed and will give 100% for the club.

He was easily our best central midfielder against Preston and the only player playing incisive passes forward during the game. Miles better than Soumare, much better than El Khanouss. We are so limited in creativity in the middle he needs a better player alongside him not being shipped out and leaving us exposed to the nightmare that is a Skipp/Soumare partnership.

All of this talk of 'best midfielder'. Rubbish.

He was awful against Preston who finished 20th in the championship last season. He only played well coming on in the second half against a Sheffield Wednesday side that had zero match fitness after no pre season. Their first team were dropping like flies and cramping up and their bench had no quality. It was less Winks being good and more Wednesday putting in one of the worst second half performances we will face in the coming years.

In the last year for us I can only remember two good games for us, when he came on as a substitute against Southampton and when he came on against Wednesday. He's genuinely not very good.

He wasn’t awful against Preston. Fair play you don’t like him but he was the only player playing positive passes between the lines. He is our best senior central midfielder. There’s hope for Page but he’s still a kid.

Is there somewhere to watch the match back in full? I remember Winks being anonymous but if he did actually do something worthwhile then I stand corrected.

I think the fact that we were quite comfortably overran in midfield speaks for itself though and that wasnt just the fault of Soumare and El Khannouss.

We were Outplayed everywhere tbh but in midfield Winks needs help. ELK wasn’t offering any creative support and was hooked at half time and Soumare was his usual self. Cifuentes needs to learn that he just can’t rely on Bouba at all as he’s already realised with Skipp.

Didn’t see the game but whether he was our best player or worst, his attitude stinks and anyone that thinks this doesn’t have an affect  on the dressing room is deluded.Lets hope our impressive youngsters don’t get to think his attitude is acceptable,

what a role model he is.

ps loved him last time in the championship but he has shown his true colours.Close the door on your way out.

When I watched the game I honestly didn't think Winks was any better than Soumare but it's hard to keep track of players whilst watching.

I just find it interesting to see the abuse Soumare receives in comparison to the 'Winks is still our best midfielder despite him actively disrespecting the club' mentality.

I struggle to put my finger on what Winks actually does that makes him have better PR despite not tracking runners properly, strolling around, not making tackles etc. similar to what Soumare gets dogs abuse for.

If I had to get rid of one of the two it would be Winks all day long (ideally both).

I've no idea if Winks hates the club or doesn't care.

He looked annoyed  with Ayew when he didn't pull the ball back to him unmarked in the box with a free instead of  cut back and shooting from an impossible angle.

If he's not our best midfielder then who is?

El Khannouss. Only midfielder we have who played to a decent level in the PL last season.

When put into the context of Skipp, Soumare and Choudhury I would categorise him under 'least bad' rather than 'best' and in my opinion he belongs amongst those names rather than being a standout above them.

Respectfully disagree, although I'll admit it's between those two for me. BEK has obvious talent and will be a great player either for us or someone else, but he's too inconsistent at the moment - this will improve with age though, which we all know. Winks has come on twice in three games and changed the momentum completely. The elephant in the room is the Preston game but nobody came out of that looking good apart from Monga.

I think we have to agree to disagree.

I think the momentum of the game changing against Wednesday was inevitable even if we didn't make any changes. They were completely dead on their legs in the second half.

I wouldnt call Winks coming on at 1-0 up against Huddersfield changing the momentum of the game when we ended up drawing. Apart from his goal he was poor that game.

El Khannouss on the other hand actually has a number of good games for us at PL level. Inconsistent or not, Winks was consistently terrible last season whereas at least El Khannouss showed he can help us win games for us at that level. He is our best midfielder and it's not actually close at all between him and Winks.

He's the common denominator with managers as well. Hasn't he fallen out with Nuno, Mourinho, Conte, Cooper and Van Nistelrooy? Looking good for 6 in 7 as well here.

We're in such a bad position here. He absolutely needs showing the door but he's our least bad midfielder. It's depressing.

Mourinho, Conte and Van Nistelrooy could fall out with someone if they were locked in a room on their own, but yea, when you're on to having fallen out with 50% of the managers you've worked with even after taking them out the equation, time to look at yourself.

Martì needs to drop him and make an example out of this behaviour. Straight down the tunnel, not celebrating for whatever reason? The idiot had a fresh start with a new manager and ****ed it immediately.

Dropped to the reserves. Sold to whoever comes in for him. Reintegrated if he proves he wants to be here otherwise see out his contract in the reserves, year and a half without professional football good luck getting a decent deal next year.

Do it Martì

I had hoped Winks would stay and be key in a promotion push this season again. However his attitude has clearly shown this is not going to happen. not celebrating when scoring a goal, walking down the tunnel straight after a game. Horrendous attitude and another whose negative attitude will spread in our team. Get rid now.

maybe Marti knew this and that’s why played skipp and Soumare. Either way. Get him out now.
