Our most consistent player last season, and now this... Madness.

He’s a regular starter for Denmark, but somehow Steve Cooper’s Leicester can’t even find a spot for him in the squad. Makes no sense.

Has he fallen out with him or does Cooper just not want to have to allow for his lack of pace? Faes looks more comfortable with Okoli even if Okoli doesn't always convince in possession.

At least we didn't give him a 3 year deal before panic appointing a terrible manager who has no tactical identity rendering him useless.....Cooper will be gone soon anyway 🤞

So if there was any truth in player unrest I guess we can put Vesty and Riccy in as at least 2 of those players. 2 of last seasons best performers. Though at least Faes and Okoli have looked decent enough in general.  Unlike our fullbacks.

He's a better than Coady imo. Still, not to feature him in the squad? Makes you wonder what is going on.

 

Then again I question most of his subs, particularly the Fatawu on for Mav at the 90' min. Such an inept manager.

Obviously Riccy P should be playing over JJ ad priority, but I think Okoli would be decent at LB too. Certainly a game like today would've suited Vestergaard. He can spot a pass and Everton offered no pace or fluidity to trouble him.

About whom? Rodgers, Smith and Cooper?

 

Ok, let's not gloss over his performances under Rodgers which were largely terrible, but the way Maresca made him click for an entire season and the way he's fought his way back in both the Leicester and  Denmark squads should tell you what he's like as a character.

He finally thought he'd proven his worth and didn't exactly let us down in the first two games. Now he's frozen out - again. 

 

I understand wanting to give Okoli a chance, but Faes could've been the one making way instead. Putting Coady on the bench is just a bizarre move.

If this is true it’s a massive issue we have at the Club. Whether you like the manager or not the players shouldn’t be able to go above his head about not being selected.

Yet in any other profession, if there were some things you weren't happy about with your boss you'd be encouraged to discuss with their superiors.

 

I do have a degree of sympathy with Vestergaard as there was evidently a lot of time and effort spent extending his contract and then we've appointed a manager that doesn't utilise his strengths. Another baffling decision all round.
