Bit of a difference between Donnarumma and any of Stolarcryk, Iverson or Johansson…

Both are better than Stolarcryk.

Both would make a difference.

And Stolarcryk would look better playing for either Preston or Stoke who have more organised defences.

Im not defending Stolarcryk. I’m just pointing out that they are all average Championship goalkeepers and if you moved them around between the teams they play for currently, they would all look better or worse for it, depending on which team they were dropped into.

Remember this forum was saying similar things about Iverson, L1 level, not good enough etc. I just find it amusing how he’d suddenly be so much better given how he was written off before.

Stolarkzyk, Iversen, Johansson are all much of a muchness. They’re all steady, Chanpionship goalkeepers.

Players make mistakes on the pitch all the time.

As a goalkeeper you get exposed more.

Elite level goalkeepers can pass a ball, command an defence and make less of those rash mistakes.

That’s the difference.

I’d say all 24 Chanpionship goalkeepers are interchangeable and none are that much better than any other this season.

Stolarcryk has shown notjing like an average championship goalkeeper, he makes to many mistakes.

Only the utter drips. The ones with a working brain had already seen/heard how highly rated he was playing for Preston for two seasons.

Can't say I've too much of an idea how Iversen has fared but Johansson has pretty consistently been one of the best keepers (or certainly one of the best shot-stoppers at least) in the Championship for a while now, hasn't he? As usual it is possible for two things to be true at once: being a goalkeeper in a team this poor defensively is a difficult job, and it's also not hard to imagine someone else with a more impressive track record at this level doing a better job than Stolarczyk has done.

Things like form and confidence play a part obviously but the rest of the team being shit doesn't adequately excuse not being able to hold on to shots, and just as the defence don't do him many favours I wouldn't blame them for not having a great deal of faith in him either at this point. Mistakes are one thing, everyone makes them - the same mistakes made repeatedly and regularly are harder to accept.

Yeah you’re still completely missing the point here.

He’s been crap and worse as the season has come on and the fact we are an utterly toxic club with the second worst defence is a massive part of that.

A keepers mistakes are always more highlighted as they are the last line of defence. We are making similar sloppy mistakes all over the pitch so how do you think our goalkeeper whoever that is at the time, end up under so much pressure?

You clearly have your opinion. I have mine. Mine is that you could put Iverson or Johnansson into this side and they’d look equally bad because of the club/team in general.

Yeah I was one of the ones who defended Iverson (and got mocked for it). So I find it amusing how people are now pining for him and saying how much better he’d be for us.

So better players don't make the team better, interesting.

Think it’s moreso better players improve a team but a good player surrounded by negativity and nervous players is more likely to underachieve. Jack Clarke was the best winger in the league, as was Philogene, neither have torn up trees at Ipswich which is higher pressure than their previous clubs

He f****d up massively for the first. The long ball beats the offside trap - Ayew should be pressing at first and Nelson should be aware of the danger and ensuring he either doesn't get beaten by either the player or forget the offside trap (there isnt a decent replay of this sadly). Nelson is then weak but Jakub is high up the pitch and gets caught out (he is high up presumably because of the offside trap). Flapping was the worst decision but he's obviously in 2 minds - if he comes out and clatters the defender outside the box he risks a red card, and if he backs off he is 1 on 1 whilst running backwards.   The indecisiveness is inexperience but there are a load of errors before it gets to him still. Everything does drop perfectly for the attacker.

Don't understand blaming him for the 2nd. Nelsons confidence had obviously gone to cheese by then but thats a massive brain fart on the defender. 3rd, there are 3 players around Okoli (1 holding him down which i didnt notice at the time). Poor defending from everyone.

Im sure when Begovic is fit he starts, but he's still shipping goals for fun. This is the guy that just palmed the ball to a Southampton player for their 2nd not that long ago. Neither are an upgrade on each other, but i presume the experience in a relegation will make a difference.

Literally not what I am saying lol

Right this is boring. If it makes you happy, fine, Stolarcryk is non-league standard and any keeper in the EFL, including whoever Wednesday have plucked off Hillsborough park to put in nets any given week would do a better job.

Happier?

Hes played 75 plus first team games now so cant even say that anymore. Hes 25, hes not a rookie. A good goalkeeper makes the right decisions. He doesnt

I genuinely thought he was 21/22... 😆

I think Stolarczyk is poor though tbf he does have the worst defence we've ever had in front of him.

I'm sure he'd look better with more competent defenders - but there's no evidence so far that he'd be competent enough.

Its still his first full season. All goalkeepers make mistakes. VIcario should have saved that free kick yesterday.  25 is young for a Keeper still.

The first is 100% Nelsons fault, he  wasn't concentrating and misjudged the flight of the ball.

Stolarcyzk starting position is correct for a high line. If he backs off the attacker is still favourite to score 1 on 1.

Its crazy to play such a high line with Ayew as a striker who never closed down their defender who had ages to pick the pass.

On rewatching it a few times I am unsure what he should do. I think in the Championship backing off was likely the right choice, as the striker still has a lot to do and Nelson was coming in. I do feel we shouldnt be playing the high line / offside trap. We dont have the experience to deal with it.

We wanted ball playing goalkeeper. And we got neither. Now the Premier league is going long ball. We might adopt a different system on 2029. Iverson was the one we should have kept.

Quite old to be a professional, but completely and utterly useless. God only knows how he has got this far

This was Iversen earlier this week.

Stolarczyk wouldn't hear the end of it if he palmed the ball in to trouble like Iversen did and also fumbled the corner.

It's just the case of the grass being greener, there's not much between them.

Go and find all Jakub errors and Iversen and let's see how they stack up.
