Think Maddison will do well at Spurs and expect him to be on the ball around the area more with Kane gone. Him and Son will be expected to step up.

Great delivery for the free kick assist.

I was watching the Spurs game (and the Liv/Chels game) on my flight back today so it wasn’t the usual sky sports coverage. It was Owen, Hasslebank and Hoddle. They repeatedly mentioned that Maddison will do really well for many reasons but especially because he was playing with “better players”. I might have blue tinted spectacles on but I just can’t see how they got to that conclusion.

I just can’t see how any of the Spurs side could class themselves as better than our team which Maddison played the majority of his time here with. Yeah, many fell off a Cliff last year but before that and apart from Son, I’d say there would be some equal battles with our lot winning many.

Looking forward to seeing Barnes and Maddison both playing for England at the Euros. I imagine Maguire will end up there too one way or another. Shame it's not while they're playing with us of course. Wonder who our next set of national team players could be.

Combined four goals and assists between them on debut. :nigel:

I'm now of the idea that the better these players perform, the worse it makes Rodgers look when slagging off our squad's ability.

Yes it is petty but so be it, he cannot get away with last season and his disgusting performance and attitude.

Harvey Barnes has come on as a sub vs Liverpool and so far has managed 2 failed passes, run into defenders three times trying to dribble around them, and miscontrolled the ball to fail to score when put clear on the left. It all looks sadly familiar...

Love Harvey and what he did here, but I am not sure he will be afforded the same patience by Newcastle and due to their ambitions, could easily be side-lined over the next couple of seasons. Hope not though, as he is one ex player I would like to see do well.

If he does so badly and the ambition of Newcastle is such that they deem him not good enough perhaps they will release him for free, an we can resign him thus taking back the Perez fee money plus a bit.

Can see us resigning him in a few years for similar of what we sold him for

Nothing sadly about it, he's not our player anymore.

I admit I used to criticise him a lot but the same people used to say he would be better in a better team, so I'm waiting for that. Average player.

Lose a bit of timber, Youri, and maybe you'll start. Must be quite jarring to have standards to meet all of a sudden..
