He’s a very average championship player. It’s likely he’s been kept around for years for squad filler as no transfer fee, lower wages and lower annual signing on fee, compared to bringing someone in.

Every club does this, be it youth players breaking into squads, or more experienced players that are steady backups.

One or two of these in isolation isn’t a bad thing.

Our challenge currently is that we are carrying L Thomas, Choudhury, S Thomas, Page, Monga, Stolarkzyk. We have too many of these and not enough genuine quality.

We are doing this as our wage bill has crippled us.

It's a bizarre take to include page monga and stolarcyk, with hamza and luke Thomas

It was more in reference to carrying players that cost us nothing in fees.

As in every club should blend this within a squad.

Building a squad on the cheap isn’t a long term solution though in a game that revolves around money.

The reality is that Page and Monga should maybe out on loan getting more minutes so we can see how impactful they are over a longer sustained period of games.

I’d say at the moment, Page has performed the better of the two.

Monga is young and skilful. That doesn’t mean he’ll become a top player.

I read that post more as players at a certain ability level that currently don’t change the game, rather than they are toxic hangers on that have a negative impact when playing.

Monga has shown he has limited abilities playing as a team member, all wax no wick sadly but that’s due to mismanagement by the coaches and Marti. He will be great under a manager and coaching staff with a clue.

Yes, exactly this really.

You can see they’ve got ability but they really need to be playing games. Reality is they aren’t really ready for the Championship and that’s the harsh reality of why we are near the lower end of the table.

We see flashes of what is capable but they’ve tended to go missing. Nelson could also be thrown into this as well.

It’s a different type of pressure playing for us, compared to an Oxford as well. Our fans expectations are typically premier league when reality is so, so much lower currently.

considered captain material.

Can only be for commercial reasons, surely!

He does not have the positional awareness needed to play at right back (and arguably DM). Could easily have cost us yesterday, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he costs us points between now and the end of the season.

He’s not good enough, and it’s quite damning for the state of this club that’s he’s considered captain material.

We can all see this and shudder when he makes errors, but successive managers and coaches clearly believe he is good enough for certain situations.

Who is right? Us or them?

I can only think that managers when they first see him think he has the attributes needed and see that he’s played in the prem.  I feel a lot of managers understandably think they can improve players, it’s their hubris/naivety that keep playing them even though it’s clear what’s happening on the pitch. Just like with Okoli and his inability to pass the ball.

Hamza has always been an idiot off the pitch and poor on it.

Our trajectory under those managers might indicate it isn't them...

Lost count of the amount of times I’ve had to slag him off on here for both on and off the pitch.

He must know he’s a disgrace.

I think how good he is and how indicative he is of the culture of this club are too separate things.

He's played very well at this level for us and other clubs at times.

Yet, this idea because he's from here that he cares has been disproven time and time again. Not least by the disgraceful video after the cup loss.

His effort for us for god knows how long has been disgusting and the worst part of that isn't even on him. It's on our club. You can act like that because the bar is that ****ing low that you just need a month on the sidelines. The passive fans, of which there are thousands, will just tell us to get behind the lads. All is forgotten and you end up with these standards.

The worst thing is he's about 15th on the list of players I can't wait to see the back of. The club is in the worst state imaginable and it's because of players like him.
