To be honest after 4 years of the narcissistic Rodgers I don't really care here. No manager is bigger than the club. He has done a great job so far but if he wants to go we will find someone else.

For any criticisms I've had of him I'm already quite liking his attitude around trying to improve other facets of the club. He is indirectly telling us that he thinks Rudkin and whoever are hopeless and that's a good thing. Confirms what plenty of us have known for ages. It didn't take him long to cotton onto this lot at all - but then it wouldn't when you've come from a well functioning operation at Man City.

That’s the well-functioning operation at MC that are facing 115 charges of financial misconduct?

It seems daft going out of your way to recruit from someone who has seen first hand how Pep and Txiki work and then just ignore his advice tbh.

Especially with Top’s fixation to operate like Man City.

That doesn't mean that the footballing side of Man City isn't exceptionally well run. Also, aren't most of those breaches from the first five or six years of the takeover?

We've tried Rudkin's way and it got us relegated. Time for Enzo's way.

I suspect Enzo succeeded last season despite Rudkin, hence why he is requesting changes be made above him.

I still have doubts about Enzo, but I actually think if we are going to stick with him, we need to go all in and let him run things how he wants (within budget)

If it fails, then it's all on him and we can get rid with no doubt or excuses.

Sounds to me like he has a pretty strong vision of how he thinks we can be successful and should be run. I'd take that over any ideas Rudkin currently has.

Massive opportunity for Enzo to call Top’s bluff and massively diminish the influence Rudkin has on the club here.

No. He does not have that built yet.

Guillem Balagué has already reported that Maresca would prefer to stay, so it’s not even news really. It seems it will probably just come down to whether Top is willing to make the back room changes that Maresca asks for. On balance I reckon he will.

What back room changes are these?

the club that have spent similar amounts to Chelsea and man utd but become perennial title winners rather than meme clubs yes. where the money comes from and their attempts to hide non-compliance with FFP are irrelevant to the point at hand

He wants more support staff around the first team. We don’t know exactly what these are but they may include more specialist coaches, scouts,  data analysts, health/nutrition experts, etc. He’s seen how the support structure works around Guardiola and he wants something similar with us.

Keep him as long as we are not going to have a power struggle to disrupt the club, like we had the gang of 4 under Martin O'Neill with Barrie Pierrpoint.

. @LCFC | The @SevillaFC has had contact with Enzo #Maresca , but the coach's priority would be to remain at #Leicester in @premierleague

It's not a no then...

Absolutely not happening

Rudkin and Enzo have grown close

Rudkin became his biggest cheerleader in the struggle period

listening to Guillem on When You're smiling, and reading between the lines, it sounds like theres a power struggle between Enzo and some at the club, sounds like Enzo wants to change things in the club to modernize and theres a bit of pushback. I think it will be the power that Enzo is allowed that will make his decision, as well as who he's having to deal with at board level

I just listened to the WYS podcast and didn't get the impression that Enzo is getting any pushback on his attempts to modernize the club. He definitely wants changes, but nothing Balagué said implied that there was a power struggle - or at least that's how it sounded to me.

As others have already pointed out, though, Balagué's claim that Burnley have been relegated because they kept faith with their promotion squad was plainly ridiculous, and it was weird that neither OPA or Piper called him out in it. In fact, Piper repeated the claim a few minutes later. It was very odd - a few seconds of research reveals that Burnley changed their squad extensively last summer. They might not have been able to splash tons of money around, but they definitely tried to significantly refresh the squad.

I'd say the chances of Rudkin actually leaving are still tiny. Can see a situation where we create another role to bring somebody else in alongside or something like that.

Well he’s getting a PA so he doesn’t have to work the fax machine. I wonder if Enzo is ready for King Power levels of hierarchy self improvement?

Rudkin isn't going anywhere. Nobody gets Top's stables quite as spotless as our Jon.

And did anyone really think that Maresca is so principled that he would walk away from probably his only opportunity to test himself as a manager in the Premier League? Absolute tosh, man.

This whole thing sounds like a dick swinging contest between two dudes with unsubstantial tallywhackers.

Their net spend was £108m. We cannot get anywhere near that....

To be fair, if I was him I'd definitely take the Sevilla job if offered, given our situation.

Oh, I didn't know that. I just thought they were a big club having a poor season.

Keep him especially if it has the same beneficial outcome of getting rid of someone promoted beyond their ability.

Rudkin = Pierpoint2.0

Big shareholder (not sure of how big a stake) is the guys that are sending Everton under - accused of borrowing money multiple times against same assets, house of cards that’s about to fall.

In fact the very reason there is FFP is to avoid the kind of owners that are involved with Everton / Savilla

“Promote” him to Director of Ponies for King Powers Polo operations and we can get on with life without him.
