Meanwhile we cant get a transfer over the line for 15 million

Yep, despite weeks of trying on our part - and yet they've got this sorted in a matter of days after Solanke left.

The reports I’ve seen suggest Brighton had made previous bids that were rejected.

There’s also a suggestion the release clause has an expiry date to it.

Depressing that Leeds are getting as much for bloody Rutter as we got for Maddison and more than we got for Barnes, even though he has done nothing at PL level and scored only 6 (SIX!!) goals in the Champo last season.

That’s probably a result of a years worth of fee inflation, Leeds reluctance to sell (they clearly prioritised selling other players) and Brighton’s cash positive position - compared to our need to sell against Spurs’ transfer fee opportunism.

I think there would be a general consensus that Brighton are paying above ‘value’ here to get the transfer done.

Yes I am sure the whole Solanke thing and subsequent were totally out of the blue. lol

This thread makes me weep. The damage the people running the club have done to it.

We used to be a serious force, now we're a non starter.

So our need for a PL level striker wasn't known in May?

Not really, it was but one of many positions we needed to upgrade and not even the most pressing.

Let's agree to disagree on that. I'm sure the majority on here would agree with me that relying on a selection from a 38 year old, a striker who hardly lit up the Championship and failed last time in the PL, and a totally unproven striker who played only rarely last season in the Champo meant that a new striker was a priority, along with creative midfielders, for this season.

We probably should but I will leave this conversation without the need to proclaim a majority from the echo chamber of my own mind.  :P

Ipswich have agreed in principle signing of Szmodics. Just unbelievable

Szmodics wanted Leicester but we too busy sending flowers to Ayew

I thought Ipswich would be dead certs for relegation as Morsy and Luongo would just get overrun each week. So they’ve dealt with it and they’re going to be fine.

For gods sake, he's not premier league quality. I guarantee it.

Both Southampton and Ipswich are recruiting really well this summer, fair play to them giving themselves a decent chance.

Also, making themselves much stronger if they do go down. Something we should have in our plans

Ever single aspect of this club is showing how clueless they are. It’s really really infuriating. Need to sell!
