I know I’m old fashioned, but I do prefer my defender highlights being of them defending! I’d take a 50:50 two footer for over a raking 50 yard pass any day.

That said he’s clearly a talent.

I hope this season doesnt end up with  us having stuck him in the shop window ahead of his sale next summer to help psr

If we need a PSR sale next summer I expect that is going to end up being Hermansen, who I can see going even if we don’t need to sell for PSR

Hopefully we get at least a couple of seasons out of Nelson before we have to sell him

I have a feeling that if we stay up then mads may not get his move until the following summer - buying club may not be ready till then and he will want to be no1 for Denmark going into the World Cup. (If the buying club is Chelsea then could well be next summer.)

I've not wanted a youth lad to make it as much as him for a long time. Something about having a youth lad at centre back really floats my boat.

I kind of know what you mean. Maybe it's because Centre backs are more 'steady' in terms of the differences in the levels of ability, so if they're reliable, it's feasible they stay for a very long times regardless of the level we're at.

Everything I have seen of Nelson says that he's got a very, very high ceiling. The obvious thing watching him last season was about him bulking up and competing more physically but he's quick, can carry the ball, good range of passing and probably most impressive of all; reads the game really well for somebody with such little experience.

Interesting he's playing LCB which was where he got rave reviews at Doncaster playing but Enzo never tried him in that role when Doyle got injured.

bit different playing on the left of a pair than as the nominal left back going into a 3, he could have played more but I can see why he didn't play in that role

Nelson and Okoli pairing next year?

These two and an experienced head that can actually run a bit(so not Coady or Vestegaard) and sell Faes for psr, allowing us to keep Mads

Be nice if we could get Alves out to Oxford too. Des Buckingham is such a good coach and being a squad of relatively unknown players is part of their effectiveness.

He was REALLY impressive here in Melbourne as an assistant, and caretaker for a few games. There’s a reason he was identified by CFG.

Cover with the opener for Port Vale today.

He's doing really well. Great to see, I like his style of play. A very gifted and technical midfielder who's applying that from defence now which is the modern way.

A position we seem to struggle in currently.

Obviously he seems to be playing right wing back for a strong Port Vale side this season.

If we should go down, in theory, we should be looking at EFL gems and a young player who, as it stands now with a long way to go, could be player of the season or there or thereabout for a team promoted from League 2, would fit the bill of a punt we’d be keen for the club to take. Being one of our own already, I’d hope we give him a shot like we would of the same player was being brought in for a fee.

I haven’t really seen anything of him to be fair. What are his range of positions he could be capable of playing? Who knows whether by next season, we’ll be playing with an out and out right back, wing back or inverted. Transfer market suggests right back and defensive midfield are positions he can play which might mean he could do the Ricardo role from last season?

And they conceded twice in the second half to lose 2-1

No reason to believe that was down to him, seems like they were very lucky to be winning 1-0 at half time in the first place from what their fans are saying

Cannon replaced at HT, another ineffective performance. He's had one good game against a League one side.

Yep, been on their forum yikes
