Also worth remember that whilst it is an achievement, finishing top 4 is not what is was a few years ago.

It comes on the back of Newcastle and Villa doing the same. It is a fact that there has not been the same top 6 performing clubs as there was previously for the past few years which has opened the door.

Man City, Arsenal (minus the post Wenger dip) and Liverpool have been fairly strong (Man City coincidentally having their worst year in 15 odd years this year) but Man U (bar the Mourinho year where they finished 2nd) have declined further, Spurs are declining year on year and Chelsea are up and down and massively under performing in the last few years relative to how much they have spent.

Yes it takes some good recruitment and things coming today and it’s great for their fans as it was Villa and Newcastle but let’s not pretend that:

1 - Forest and Villa and Newcastle before haven’t spent obscene money, dwarfing not only us in 2016 but also our seasons under Rodgers.

2 - That none of these 3 clubs would have been close to top 4 a few years ago before the rich 6 clubs stopped being the ‘top 6’.

As I say, great for their fans and fair play. You still need to get it right over the rest of the clubs pushing but it’s no fairy tale.

It also shows what I thought all along which is that much of our fan base was hailing the 5th place finishes but it was actually a huge underperformance both times around for us.

The reality is that while UCL qualification keeps the bank manager happy, it's pretty meaningless if it isn't backed up with anything. Who remembers Everton qualifying? Or Leeds making the semis?

Not very many outside of those clubs because neither of them won anything to back it up. I suspect Everton fans have fonder memories of winning the FA Cup in 1995 than qualifying for the Champions League. Leeds fans will likely associate their UCL appearance with the enormous losses that led to them ending up in League One.

All of this is true, but it's not the point.

Forest's best season in 30 years is happening now. Leicester's best season ever happened nearly a decade ago.

Saying "your success now is not as good as ours was then" is like when your dad tells you nights out aren't what they used to be when he's settling in for a Friday night on the sofa and you're out on the pull. Yeah, whatever, Dad.

Also, no-one outside Lancashire cares that Blackburn won the Premier League once. Leicester's win will become a pub quiz question as the years plod on.

Always makes me smile when another Forest visitor comes blinking into the daylight after hibernation.  Where have you been all these years?

That and the fact that they think their European success is still on every fan's lips, despite it being nearly half a century ago in an era when a not-inconsiderable number of British homes still had black and white television, but that our title win, which was less than a decade ago in an era of globalised mass media, has now been forgotten and is nothing more than a pub quiz question, will always make me laugh.

The weirdest, most arrogant and delusional fanbase relative to club size in English football.

Mind our FA Cup win is less than 5 years ago. That is an actual trophy not second or third. Time to make a comment is when and if Forest win it this year

If we have to go as long as Newcastle

before celebrating our next win most of us on here will be pushing up daisies.

We've been lucky enough to witness

the best Years in the clubs History.

Stand back and breath it in.

Bollocks to Forest they will lose in the semis.

This is a good philosophy.

Setting up a justgiving page so Bilo can get PTSD therapy when Forest win the thing. PM me to contribute.

Already resigned myself to it. They seem to have saved up 35 years of luck since their last trophy.

No prizes for guessing who Forests last home game before a potential cup final is against

Hopefully they rest a few players and we can keep the score down a bit.

It’s also the game they’ll probably secure champions league football

Part of the reason I advocate getting absolutely battered at Manchester City. Them somehow blowing UCL is all we have.

Genuinely staggering that it’s come to this

These were going nowhere and fighting to stay in the championship 3 years ago

Every chance Cov go up as well

If you could offer most fans a chance to see their side win every major English trophy in their life time they would snap your hand off. I’ve seen it all. But it is making this current situation feel so bad
